It’s all a money scam. That shite doesn’t cost that much to make.
How is it different from any other new gizmo or gadget that comes out and is initially expensive but eventually comes down in price dramatically?
I take pills that 20 years ago cost hundreds of dollars a month and now cost like $0.10 per pill. We certainly need to keep an eye on how drug companies operate, but new drugs will always be expensive, which is good. We want companies incentivized to create new medications that make our lives better.

How does it help on anxiety and paranoia for someone with depression?

I take a med that is $13k without insurance for a month supply so I beat you.

So, the cure for the depression actually makes you depressed.
Pharma caught dealing from the bottom of the deck, AGAIN!

The pharmacy I deal with (local one) will always check the cash price.
Basically their markup on what they pay for the meds.
Lots of times the cash price is cheaper than my copay or what the drug company charges the insurance.

If that makes you feel guilty, you are probably still depressed. If you’ve tried other meds and they didn’t work, but this one does - keep taking. If this is the first one the doctor has tried and/or you don’t think it’s working, ask about generic alternatives with similar meds. Also do the exercise, heathy diet, stop drinking, etc.

The med is Rexulti for depression. I have major depressive disorder.
You can get mdma/molly for a lot cheaper(~$300-500 for 30). And you might enjoy it more.

It's not a scam. R&D has to recouped someway.
Would you rather they not do that anymore?

Thankfully I have insurance and pay only $30 for a 30 day supply but I have to admit I feel a little guilty taking such expensive meds. The med is Rexulti for depression. I have major depressive disorder. I think I may stop taking it.
Try a new doctor. I was doing all the lifestyle factors to feel happy and was still depressed a few years ago. Went to a homeopathic doctor who used to prescribe prescription antidepressants to her patients, but changed her views because they all have guaranteed detrimental side effects and don’t usually work, especially in he short run. She ordered blood work and told me my vitamin B was low, I needed to take probiotics and SAM-e. Told me the specific brands to take that have the most potent, bioavailabile ingredients, etc. Within a week of taking them my symptoms went away. Changed my life.

Don't stop taking it. You could end up hurting yourself. If you're concerned about the cost see if there is a generic version available or have the doctor switch you to something else. Hang in there.

Your calculation is far from “net” as you framed it. That’s $144M in retail sales value using your assumptions.

I take Enbrel and it's around $5K/month without insurance. There should be a generic on the market by the time I retire!

Definitely check back in and let us know how that plays out
He'd probably still seem relatively happy compared to some of the miserable SOBs on here.

Hope you never have to pay for Chemo.
That is what I was thinking Nicky, I just changed from an infused chemo regimen to an oral chemo regimen and for the first time in 5 years, I had to pay a co-pay for the meds of $300.00 for 30 days worth of pills. My normal co-pay is $30.00
If I didn't have good Rx coverage I would be fricked. These pills cost $187.00 per pill for a grand total of $7,480 per month without insurance.
I really don't know what the infused chemo drugs cost because I never saw a bill, I did see a couple of insurance notifications that had amounts like $30,000, $20,000, and another that was over $50,000 all for chemo but I never had to pay a dime so I didn't pay much attention to these notifications. These pills have only been on the market for about 5 years so they are still protected from competition but damn that stuff is pricy!

The medicine I take once every 8 weeks costs $11,000. Insurance pays a reduced price of about $6,000. If I were to pay cash out of pocket, it would be $4,400. (Entyvio infusion)

Brother- before you write it off and stop taking it, please go to this website and see if it can do you some good. I can tell you I have personally used these manufacturer's coupons for other medications- and they have worked.
Please try it. I pray it works and can help you!
EDIT: Never mind. I see you aren't paying nearly that much with your plan...Anyway, those of you having to pay out the a$$ for some of your meds even with insurance- try going to the manufacturer's website....In many cases they offer a discount program similar to this.
