I have used screen protectors and slim cases since I was like 18. I can’t not do it lol

Yep this is the phone I have. I bought it 3 years ago. Occasionally when a girl pulls it out they will go “wtf is that” so I figure a 12 will help my case more.

The battery in this is so bad that I figure when I get even a 12 it will be a massive upgrade.

I have a 12 and my wife has a 13.

My iPhone 12 works fine. Her iPhone 13 is demon-possessed. I was on the phone with an outstanding Apple CSR at Thanksgiving for 2 hours trying to get it to work right. We made it work better, but it is still demon-possessed.

As for older iPhones, I took my daughter's old 5S, put a new battery in it for $100, and used it for several years. I don't have to have the latest camera or the most GB, I just want something that will make calls, text, and support Waze. That's all. If not for Waze, I would be happy with an old flip phone.

I think I’m just gonna get the 12. Can always upgrade in a couple years. I don’t mind being “behind the times” either. I call, text, Snapchat, and sports bet. In 5 years I plan to ditch the iPhone for a black berry.

Went ahead and upgraded from a 12 to a 15 yesterday.. im not an early adopter by any means (15 has been out for over 6 months I believe) and i would have kept the 12 even longer except, as i mentioned upthread, i really wanted the eSIM feature of the 15 for working overseas and not having to keep trading out the physical SIM card.. even that might not have been enough to make me upgrade, except that my carrier (ATT) was offering $700 off of the $825 base iPhone 15…. End of the day, it adds about $3 per month to my bill for 36 months.. i generally like to buy stuff outright and avoid financing, but $3 per month isnt like having an $900 truck payment lol… plus everything was super seamless, they transferred everything from the old phone to the new , all the apps, photos, contacts- even my wallpaper transferred to the new phone.. so just a heads-up that now might be a good time for a baw to save some money if you are looking to upgrade .

ETA to clarify, being ATT they have to stick it to you some way- so of course they wouldnt LET me buy it outright, they make you do the financing .. still not a terrible deal though IMO

Just get a newer se model. Smaller, cheaper, and pretty much the same minus a few features. Not missing anything really life changing.

The Apple AI component that was in the financial news today will be- if not life changing, at least kinda cool.. not sure if AI would be supported on the SE, or hell even on any current model .
