I've had a Spyderco in my pocket since the late 80s early 90s. I can be armed with a 4 inch blade in a split second with one hand so that's always nice to have to fall back on if necessary but generally I just use it for knife stuff. I've infected a herd of people with the Spyderco bug in my time. It's practically required at this point.

Carry one every day. Put it on the counter with my watch, wedding band, wallet and keys pretty much when I walk in the door after work.

Eta: forgot about my pistol. That too

Any man who doesn’t carry a knife, gun and tape measure might as well chop his dick off and go play womens sports

Always have a Knife, but usually now days it's a utility knife with replaceable blades'.
Good pocket knives are great for collecting though.

I think it depends on the parent. If the parent does it and encourages it by gifting knives, then the kid will do it. One of the biggest reasons for the decline, though, is the schools. Back in the day, you could have a small pocket knife. At worst it got taken away if you were fricking around with it. Now, you could eat a pop tart into the shape of a knife and they’ll kick the kid out of school. So until they graduate, most of their lives they can’t have one and it never becomes a habit.

I've got one of those and it's completely changed how I deal with knives, tools, lawn mower blades, etc. You can put a razor's edge on everything you own in an hour or two. Doesn't matter how fricked up the edge is. You do need to practice on it before you put it to the expensive knives because you can screw up a blade in a heartbeat if you don't know what you're doing.

My pocket space is limited. It used to always include a crescent wrench and a pocket knife.

Now i have a wallet that takes up three pockets.

It was a game changer for me. You can put a razor edge on a blade in 60 seconds. The wife was an instant fan after the first time I ran all the kitchen knives through it.

most work places in 2024 are not going to allow you to carry a pocket knife. i carry one 24/7 outside the office for the exact reasons you mention. use it all the time.

I go everywhere with a pocket knife clipped on. Hardly anyone notices. Knife, keys, and an EDC flashlight are all carried on pocket clips.

I carried a mini grip into airport security about a month ago and they took it from me. Just completely forgot I had it on me like I do every day, and last second shoved it in my carry on booksack. They of course found it and told me I could bring it back to my truck, but I would have had to sit through the TSA line again, which I didn’t have time for. $120 to TSA that morning.

Those are the best!

Always carry a knife...

I always do carry-on, but hate not having a knife.
Usually will buy one at the destination and mail it home if I'm gonna be there awhile.
