Friend,

Both marijuana and alcohol are deadend drugs and gateway drugs. Both marijuana and alcohol destroy personal dreams, families, and societies. They are the adversary to and anathema to arete. Yes, they lead some people down the path of even greater destruction. Be not deceived, though, the path lined with marijuana and alcohol is already destruction. Beware. May all good and just societies, when their constituent members do not freely and happily reject these drugs (a fallacy because all good and just societies are made of members who do not partake in these wicked substances) legislate against them.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Friend,

I wholeheartedly agree. The devil's lettuce is a gateway to more morally reprehensible things such as prostitution or voting democrat.

My point is proved... you tried them, and you smoke pot

See here’s the thing: republicans smoke pot too.

They just don’t let anyone know about it.

My response was tongue in cheek. It's pretty much how I always respond to marijuana posts.

ETA: I'm actually a proponent of legalization. Kind of have to be if I call myself a libertarian.

No your point is that people who smoke weed also smoke cigs. I am proof that that theory is incorrect.

Then you mustn’t know too many people

I knew tons of kids in NOLA that smoked weed before they ever drank alcohol bc the weed was easier to get

A few of those kids quickly moved to Vicodin, then Vicodin and alcohol - then I didn’t hang out with them anymore - some of the kids went weed to alcohol - none of these kids smoked cigarettes bc they thought it was nasty

My good friend that smoked - smoked for years b4 trying weed - but only did it once - but then drank a lot

Most of the kids that illegally drank, only drank bc their parents bought it for them and made them drink at home - so they never did drugs when I knew them

However, after working with several rehab centers you can quickly see how weed can be a gateway drug - so I don’t think it might be a gateway drug for EVERYONE but it definitely is for some

Even if it’s legalized you will still have the illegal element - as for the sports betting - I have no idea what’s taking so long with that must be the N Louisiana politicians that don’t believe in drinking, gambling and dancing

I wonder if all of those same people have also tried cheeseburgers...or owned a pair of blue jeans? I think you're on to something.

actually hate the term gateway drug all together. It’s stupid. I know people that drink and tried weed but never really took to it. I know people that smoke weed but never do any other drugs. I also knew people In the past that did harder drugs but mostly cuz they were into uppers.

I e heard all the gateway drug talk before and I think memes make fun of this as idiots assumed smoking weed would make you want to try/do other drugs.

It’s been my experience that since weed is illegal that the guys selling weed also have access to other drugs. If you hang around people that sell weed there is a decent chance you’re going to be around them when they are in someThing else. Peer pressure will eventually take hold, especially if you’re young, and you’ll try that something else. That’s how it’s a gateway.

Just my 2 cents

It was absolutely a gateway drug for me.

But it just led me to psychedelics so no harm
