30 years ago there were some physical prep “suggestions”, like running 3 miles in less than 20 minutes, certain number of situps/crunches in a minute, etc.

OP already stated he received an age waiver for his PFT, due to being prior service.

I think you misunderstood but it’s fine. I will explain.

Another poster pointed out that the cut off was 28, after I posted in the OP that I’m 30. My waiver comment was me explaining that I’m prior service AND I was able to perform well enough on a PFT that my age is a non-factor. Basically, I have a really high pft score.

Gotcha, thought you meant you needed a waiver because you couldn't pass.

I know there are shitbag officers, but pretty much any of them could out pt anyone even in the airwing. Not that I need to tell you.

Good luck and have fun as the real thing sucks.

Why are you joining the MC at age 30?

Got out at 23 with the goal of getting my degree and going back in. Finished my degree at 26. Began the process and found out we were expecting our first. Delayed submitting my application to OCS because I didn’t want to do OCS and TBS and leave her alone for the entirety of a pregnancy or with a newborn. Baby is now 2. Now or never.

I may have been dumb enough to deal with the military bullshite in .y late teens, but not way I would be part of that shite in my late 20s. I was way too much of my own thinker at that point.

Marines (enlisted) really do eat crayons. Saw it with own eyes a few weeks ago. Bastard stole the crayon from my nephew and took a bite. I’m assuming he got OTH on his DD214.

30 is nothing. Don't let anyone discourage you.

I went through the January class back in 2011. Standby to freeze your arse off. Nothing like busting all the ice off of the creeks so you can jump right in.
