Didn't even know there was one in Gulfport.

We have done it in the past. The key for us has been, buying tickets online ahead of time, getting there an hour to an hour and a half before dark, riding the train first, and getting out before it gets packed late in the evening.

Cheat sheet to a good time right here.

We went to Gulfport last year and enjoyed that one. Going back this year
City Park does have more to offer though

I thought I heard that they took out a lot of stuff and the price went up. It used to be a good event. Covid and the Destroya probably ruined it.

What's it called? The winter festival? Trying to look it up. Might take my kids as a change of pace.

Winter Festival. Very nice. 15 per person, 5 for kids under 11 or 12 I think. There is a parking garage directly across the street that if I remember right was free to park in.

Is it safe? Our HS soccer team went play there last saturday and everyone's vehicles were broken into while the teams played there... same area, so just thinking night time is probably more favorable for these situations.

Nope. Of all the stupid that goes on in this city, Christmas in the Oaks is a very well run event. Being expensive is relative. Everything is fricking expensive these days.

They cut back on some of the displays in the botanical gardens and last year the train ride didn't really pass through lights.
I think the covid financial situation impacted them, but they are supposed to be adding some more stuff back this year.

For those considering City Park and have little ones, the mini golf and Children's Museum is great as well if you want to make a longer day of it.
There is a Cafe DuMond there as well. Much better than trying to go to the location downtown.

We are going to Gulfport this year and staying the night then going to Bellengrath Gardens the next night.
