This sorta reminds me of Lost.

Well next time make it more clear for these "non pilots" over here. Geeze.

I'll wait for a tad more reliable source.

I was holding out hope for a water landing or something. I've traveled a lot and it's just so hard to fathom.

Yea, I'm only seeing that one report, and it's coming from a college football twitter account, so I'll wait until something a little more mainstream reports it as well. But I don't see much of a chance of this ending well.

Yeah, at this point it's a little unrealistic to think the plane's communications went down, they landed safely and just haven't gotten around to borrowing a phone somewhere to call in.

There's no chance an aircraft that size made a safe landing somewhere and it wasn't noticed by people on the ground unless it was a water landing.

So, after the terrorist Kunming knife attack in China, what do you all think are the odds that this is terrorist related too?
Posted on 3/7/14 at 10:21 pm to MikeyFL
Going by the odds, very low. It is a greater chance that something would fail mechanically leading to an accident than terrorism

I agree. More likely to be an Air France type situation than terrorism.

You mean pilot error?
Also, Those flightaware graphs are estimates when they get outside of their reliable radar coverage, not ANY radar coverage, basically EU, Arabian Peninsula, Oz and of course USA. outside of that they extrapolate the flight plan, speed and altitude on posted course.

I was on a plane that had a very rough landing arriving into Atlanta once. Came down really hard and immediately had to pull up to take another pass. Scared the shite out of everyone on board. Death always feel so close when flying.
I was on one to ATL a few years ago that did the same thing. If it was the same one, I was scared shitless!

Happened to me coming into New Orleans. After the chaos and engines screaming as pilot pulled up to circle around , he announced to passengers that a tail wind had pushed us too far down runway. Had he landed, we would have ran into terminal building because he couldn't stop it in such a short distance.
A way steeper climb and hard bank than I would have ever thought possible in a large plane.

A 777 is a bunch of cutting-edge realtime technology. That it went down without the carrier admitting realtime confirmation says little for them.
