ERCOT got the green light to bypass emissions to keep the lights on.

Screw that. That’s not even approaching reasonable.

Could you imagine 80 degrees when it’s 100+ outside? It’s Texas, that’s insane.

Yeah, no. When I walk into our home during summer, I want to feel like I’m walking straight into a walk-in freezer. 80° wouldn’t even stop the sweating from outside.

It’s my sorry energy company.

They probably have a bunch of locked in prices and the wholesale rates going up have them worried about getting their bonuses so they’re putting that off on you.

I’ve worked with enough utility companies to know it’s true. Those lazy fricks will do anything to preserve their bonuses, especially when they don’t have time to bend the PUC over for a rate case because they’ll have to close the books in a few days.

Reddit says the reason we now have energy warnings, rolling blackouts is because of trump , greedy corporations,

Wouldn't a greedy corporation want the power to stay on? They can't meter you unless the power is running.

That depends on their customer contracts and how many are fixed rate vs variable and how the wholesale rate impacts profitability.

All fixed = fricked
All variable w/ a baked in margin = profit

The reality is they all have a blend and it’s hard to tell.

I got the same type of email and I am in NW Arkansas. I am on Carroll Electric which is a CO-OP. The power it gets comes from the Southwest Power Pool.

How can ya'll stand a house being heated to 68 degrees. I don't know why 68 is hot as hell in a heated house but cold as a witches tit when you are cooling a house but heating to 68 is just miserable to me.

The night before I had mine at 68 and it was 62 on the thermostat.I had to go up to 72 not to freeze in my sleep.

I can’t sleep when it’s cold.

Luckily some of them were just mothballed and rushed back into service or run on natural gas.

I wish they did this for Gibbons Creek, that was a good little lake to fish. The day they shut down Fayette County is gonna bring me to tears.

How are they going to succeed from the Union when they can't even keep the lights on by themselves? LOL
