He prob has that much in it, sadly he more then likely won't break even on that deal.

$3,500- $4,500 depending on if it's 4x4 or not.
Tires for that vehicle can be an easy $1200 if they're all terrain, high mileage.

no power door locks

I wouldn't pay more than $1,500 for that thing.

$2500 if 2wd

I'd also budget $1000 for every 20K over 100K miles. Unless you're able to do work yourself.
But I have a lifecycle perspective when I buy vehicles. That's too granular some.

yes, it is has 4WD capability
If so, $3K max

That vehicle has what 50K left in it before major work. I probably estimated too much at 5600. I'd go down to about 4 then.

Yeah, that is insane.

In my experience, unless it has a new engine, that thing is days from blowing up. 170k on a Chevy is like 350k on a Toyota.

Offer $4500 then walk away.

frick that. You're going to replace just about everything on that. Expect to rebuild the tranny, the rear-end, the transfer case, replace the A/C system, brakes, bearings, upholstery.
money pit bruh.
however, as the owner of a 79 Bronco redneck beast, I'm glad to see the value of my rig go up.

I'd make an initial offer of $3,500 and go up to $4,300 MAX. With that kind of mileage and cosmetic issues, along with no power windows $3,500 is realistically all you should pay. The guy will most likely argue all the extra $$ he put into it during the negotiation. The seller won't get a dime of that money back.
