I have no idea how the average family is able to make ends meet today.

Cases of soft drinks... A case of Coke Zero went from under $5, sometimes as low as $3, to $7-10. I used to catch the sales that were 3 for $10.

Psychologically, that’s the one that still gets me. I’ll buy a croissant and it will be twice as expensive as it used to be.

They aren't. Look at debt levels.

I assume savings are taking a beating as well. I went to my suburban brokerage yesterday to make my IRA deposit at the deadline and asked the lady behind the counter if she had been busy. She said there were a lot fewer of me than there used to be.

Crawfish?

The tip thing is driven as much by the POS terminal providers as the establishments.

The terminal providers get a percentage of the total and figured out to put the tip screen on everything.

true. My wife and adult daughter went out to eat a local Italian place. with tip and (2) teas, 80 bucks. Not really worth it to me anymore. Nobody's going to have to throw a benefit for us, but I'm over and out with that kind of spending. yet, it was very busy with a long wait. Sat. Night.

This. I’m going to start slapping down $5 for anything under $40 and call it a day. I’m finished subsidizing employers who don’t pay staff.

Found them for $7.97/case (24 pack) right after Easter- I loaded up. My family knows I won't buy them unless they're on sale for under $5/12 pack.

Carry cash and the tip amount is at your discretion.
