You get four months off a year?

Yeah, we have 3 guys for 2 spots, so some one is always off being paid their 40 hours.

main company is 3 hours away, so they don't have anyone to cover sick days and vacations, so they pay some one to sit home and be able to cover in case on of other 2 drivers get sick

I worked as a bedside pediatric nurse for 16 years. Worked nights, 3 12s with 4 days off a well. Worked a lot of weekends and holidays. That sucked....but part of the job.

At first it was awesome cause who wouldn't want 4 days off a week. I could arrange it to where I had 8 days off in a row and not take a minute of vacation time. Last 2 years of work I noticed that 12 hour shifts were wearing me down. Was more tired and spent a lot of my days off sleeping to make up for the sleep I lost. Trying to get the weekends/holidays I did want off could be a chore for it wasn't guaranteed. Lots of stuff going on in the unit I worked at as well. Making the nurses take more patients that normal, less help, more work. It just speeded up the burnout process. I was miserable towards the end and was miserable to be around.

Now I work an office job as an infection control nurse. I'm learning a new area of nursing. Work 8-4:30 M-F and really like it so far. I miss the extra days off of course....but don't miss all the stress and the lack of sleep. And....as a nurse I can always return to the bedside one day in the future if I tire of my current job.

DevOps engineer and hell yeah. We just had weekly disk golf league and left the office for a couple hours, then came back to cold craft brew on draft at the office. Not to mention the pay itself, job security, and nature of the work

I saw some old fella sleeping on some church steps at 5:30AM the other morning on the way to work.

whether you're being serious or not... there are people who have it way worse than you do.

I hate my job cause its a union job and the economy has been eating us alive lately.

so take your 9-5 and 5 days a week and shove it up your mom's arse

I taught and coached. Coaching was the only thing keeping me in the classroom.

I'm now at a plant and love it.
