My daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law will be going to Alaska at end of June for their honeymoon. My daughter needs to get some waterproof/water resistant hiking shoes or short boots. There won’t be any 10-mile hikes, but there will be multiple short hikes. Any recs for such?

I got my grandaughter some Columbia Newton Ridge for women.

Not expensive good support for ankles and water resistant.

My wife has Merrell's that we used all over Iceland....

I tend to use Merrell's as well, particulary the Moab 2's. Haven't tried the Moab 3's yet.

I’d read this and go to an REI if you have one locally.

I use Asolos with Gore Tex as bird and turkey hunting boots. The models I have had have walked many miles and maintained their waterproofness. The last pair I had lasted 5 years before they started letting my feet get wet. You can usually find them on sale at backcountry or steep n cheap. Here’s my latest pair last week turkey hunting in the cold, and my feet stayed dry despite the melting ice:

The 3’s are much more comfortable than the 2’s imo.

Forget the boots. Going outside in the summer is a mosquito overwhelming situation. Repellant helps a bit, but they will need headgear netting long sleeve shirts etc
