re: How to make $300k arbitraging credit card points and then pay zero taxes on it
Posted by auwaterfowler on 5/2/24 at 10:43 pm
Reminds me of one of my buddy’s wife. The summer after her 10th grade year, her dad told her they were going to make her college money. If you will recall, Trilene fishing line has a contest that they would pay $1,000 for ANY world record catch. Well, they spent all summer catching things like the 2...

This is a long shot, but I’m looking for a home remodel designer around NE AL

We have multiple things we want to accomplish with our home and pool area over the next few years, but we need to have a master plan first. None of the contractors around here offer any such service. Any recs for my area? Maybe it could even be someone that does it remotely? Thanks!...

That’s interesting. How would he lay down with that on? I would be fine to put it on him in the morning and take it off in the evening, but we can’t be with him throughout the day to put it on and take it off multiple times....
Need advice about my old dog
Posted by auwaterfowler on 4/29/24 at 12:00 pm
He is 14 years old and a mix that is heavy on corgi and border collie. Weighs about 50-60 lbs and has the shortest legs you’ve ever seen. Poor thing is ugly as homemade sin, but he’s been a great pet. He’s had hip issues for a couple of years now. Nothing much to do for him except give glucosamine/c...

Advice for women’s hiking boots for Alaska trip?
Posted by auwaterfowler on 4/26/24 at 8:39 pm
My daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law will be going to Alaska at end of June for their honeymoon. My daughter needs to get some waterproof/water resistant hiking shoes or short boots. There won’t be any 10-mile hikes, but there will be multiple short hikes. Any recs for such?...

re: Biden proposed a capital gains tax of 44.6% & 25% unrealized gains for high income earners
Posted by auwaterfowler on 4/24/24 at 3:38 pm
Yeah, that’s just great timing as I am looking to sell my business in the next couple of years and retire. My retirement planning assumes 15-20% capital gains tax to be owed on the sell, not 44.6%! I might not be retiring at 53 years old after all.
This is such bullshite. I took a giant risk to st...
re: Summer Plans?
Posted by auwaterfowler on 4/24/24 at 10:07 am
Not sure yet. Everything is in flux. One daughter getting married in June. Another daughter having to do her masters program during the summer. And my son is doing clinical rotations during summer. Doesn’t look like there will be a “family” vacation. Probably multiple long weekend beach trips to try...
