re: Current-gen Tacomas: 4cyl. vs 6cyl…. What’s the boards opinion?

He’s comparing a ford 3.0L v6 (a tiny v6) ranger to a taco 2.7L i4
That is a fairly large 4cyl and it’s inline so the power produced is not surprising.
My buddy used to drive around an old Ford F-150 that had an in-line 6 and that thing could nearly get the front wheels off the ground when stomping it. The power those engines produce is insane

thats a tough one, the 2010 is getting old, but thats super low miles. thats almost unheard of now days
i bought my 2009 in 2013 with 52k miles for 20k
for reference, i get 16.5-ish mpg in the city with a lift and 275/70/17
highway i get a solid 17 +/-

you'll only regret it if you buy outside of the toyota family

No. It wasn’t. BIL was trying to get my sister a bronco.
Talked them out of it. Coworkers wife made it 9 miles from dealer in one and it just shut down. They never solved the issue. Gave her another one. Even though he wanted her to get something else. Same BIL has had some issues with a f150 that they can’t figure out. I had a ford before and it was great. But that was a 2010 model. 165k miles and no issues. It’s almost Russian roulette with some of these new vehicles

I think I’m gonna go for the 2019 4cyl. It’s newer with newer tech. Same as the SR v6.
Plus, the dealer sent me some pictures of the 2010 and I wasn’t impressed with it. I’m up here in the rust belt so it had definite rust on it.

You won’t be disappointed either way.
It’ll be a big adjustment though, that 4 banger is slow af

Had a 2011 I4 base model access cab, it was a perfect commuter truck. Had no power, but I was fine with it as I had a long commute.
Got a 2020 V6 TRD OR Double Cab in 2019, frickin love that truck. Its power is not great, but it does everything I need. People were having trouble getting up a hill to the cabins we went to last week in North GA because of the ice that set in. One dude in a little 4x4 Colorado was in a ditch. Told everyone at the bottom to throw in as much luggage as they could in my bed and I will make it up and they don’t have to lug it up the steep arse icy hill. Put that bitch in crawl mode and went right up it no issue.

I've put 200k on a 4cyl
280k on a 6
another 240 on a 6
then 280 on a 4cyl
currently on my second v8 tundra and close to 200k on it. The only thing that changed for my was a big boat. Absolutely would not recommend the 4 for any type of towing, but other than that they are absolutely fine if you aren't one to get into the skinny pedal. They have way more power than 20 years ago. I will say the 4runner is a little more comfortable if you aren't using the bed for anything really dirty.

I don't remember seeing but are you looking at 4x4 only?
A dealer up here has a '23 for $29.9
Wolfchase Toyota
This is who I bought my last 3 toyotas from.
ETA: Also bought my nephews Tacoma from them as well a few years ago. That one, Car Max had the same truck that was 2 yrs old and we got his brand new truck for less than the offer at Car Max.
