North American Moose Hunt

Starting the search and planning for what seems like it will be a years long adventure. I'm looking for recommendations on guided or non-guided public land hunts for moose in the United States.
Wyoming would be ideal just because I've always had a fascination with it but I am open to anything. Not even sure if this is possible yet or how long it takes to draw tags. Open to hear of anyone's experiences, good/bad/indifferent. Looking for any help I can get.

You're not going to draw a WY moose tag as a NR anytime soon

It’s not impossible, but extremely difficult to get a moose tag in the lower 48. Hat is right.

Moose season in Alaska was usually first 2 weeks of September....I was fortunate enough to be stationed up there, and heard of multiple friends/acquaintances paying for hunting trips up to Alaska for various game

Just remember a story about a guy from Memphis that was on a moose hunt in Canada. Shot a big moose. He and his guide got to the moose and started gutting it.
Grizzlies charged and killed him. The guide was stalked by the bear throughout the night. He stayed with the moose and the man’s body.

Alaska is probably your best bet. I'd focus my research on that - if you are a NR to moose territory in the lower 48.

Look into applying for cow tags out West. Otherwise, save money for Alaska.
Buddy killed a moose in BC. He tried to help the guide clean it. The guide put him and his rifle on a little ridge above them so that he could watch for bears while the guide cleaned.

Also, there is no point system in Idaho, so give it a try. I drew Idaho California Big Horn about fifteen years back. Odds were like 1 in 1200.

An ol boy I used to hunt with was working in Alaska for a while. Him and his buddy decided to hunt one and walked in about 3miles or so and shot a large bull. He said from the time it hit the ground to putting it all in the freezer was about 3days if I remember right. And that was after he had to go buy a new freezer, do you have enough room for 500lb of meat? Most people don’t.
He said all the locals laughed at him and said locals only shoot moose you can get a boat or atv to.

I did a float hunt in Alaska in 2015, got a B&C bull, I chronicled it here in a thread, I learned a lot and would be happy to share if you are interested

Alaskan moose have to be very big to harvest I believe? Not sure on Canada? I’d think Canada would have lesser hunts as in not for ‘wall hangars’ only. Given that it all depends on your budget.

My kid had classes cancelled one day at University of Utah because a moose was roaming around campus.

Newfoundland is another good option. Lots of moose and more affordable.

This was going to be my suggestion. Can't imagine you have much chance in the lower 48.
