that place is 12 or better

yea that doesnt make too much sense. Whats the point of letting a main frame 8 pt run around for 8 years until he dies just spreading his shitty genes all around the place. There has to be some kind of "kill the deer you dont want in your gene pool" implemented

That management plan makes zero sense. Many deer will never develop that many points no matter how long the live. This will let many older smaller racked bucks stay in the gene pool.

i keep my mouth shut when i'm there...i don't want to loose our invite...i sometimes shoot big 9 or 10s

I can understand that. I have just never heard of a 12 and higher rule. I have seen inside spread rules though. Managing white tails can be as debatable as car brands.

nontypical. two drop tines measured about 6 inches each and couldn't rub the velvet off the bottoms of them. right ear was eat up with where he'd been fighting and had a pellet hole in the same ear where some buckshot had gotten him at some point in his life.

when I skinned it, right over it's spine was a perfect tunnel through it's muscle, assumably from another buckshot pellet. I've read some things that say injuries can be a cause of antlers being nontypical.

We killed an 8pt with a palmettoed rack at our camp that had a buck shot hole right through the main beam. Also had one still stuck in the skin behind the ear that was infected. Assholes would build duck blinds in the lake within shot of our property and keep a few rounds of buck shot with them while duck hunting.

that was first year in that particular club. Sent jawbones to Auburn to get on game management and they estimated his age at 7-1/2. I don't think he'd made it through the year if I hadn't lucked up and gotten him that season. I had buck fever and had him broadside for a shot, when I pulled the trigger, it was the loudest damn click I've ever heard. I forgot to chamber a round after getting up in the stand. He took off running, and I got him with my 4th shot. Bullet went in his arse, through intestines, stomach, a kidney, lung and embedded between his rib cage and skin. I've got it on the mount also. Missed all bones and just hit soft tissue, he went 15 feet and dropped.

we kept buck shot with us when duck hunting after having an 8pt walk out on us and then we actually got a 5pt a few weeks later

We had one guy at our club, we were doing a mandrive through a holler, when a buck jumped out on him, he shot at it and swore he hit it.. we looked for blod for about an hour, when finally someone found one side of it's antlers, he had shot off. He caught hell about it, and was sick, because that one side had a huge mass to it and if it was typical, woulda been a nice 8 point.

Larger pic.. sorry. Taken from a buddies lease on the Louisiana Delta. This deer walked within 10 yards of our blind and never saw us.
