It clearly wasn't. Should've just routed the Taliban and left
Instead we stayed for 20 years, blew a couple trillion dollars, and the Taliban are as strong as ever.
And I mean no disrespect to anybody who served there, my brother did 3 tours in Afghanistan and I know it was brutal. The whole "nation building" shite never works though, our leaders know it doesn't work, but it's a phenomenal money laundering opportunity.

You are correct. I was referring to the initial airstrikes in Afghanistan to wipe out terrorist camps (October/November 2001).
We never should have touched Iraq. Hussein was not a threat to America.

Neither. No disrespect to anyone who served. But those wars were pointless, I do admire anyone's courage who went into combat. But in the end, it was never for any of the platitudes the state sponsor media fed everyone about "freedom" or whatever other terms they use.

OK.
I don't agree. We'd have done a much better job without all of the CNN commandos telling us we should be fighting, but it certainly wasn't pointless.

All of these types of wars should be Shock and Awe. Blow em all to hell, destroy the enemy regime, then get our boys the hell outta there and back home. These ops should last 10 to 20 weeks, not 10 to 20 years.

I'd be interested in hearing your perspective on what was necessary about them?

I know you're getting downvoted because you're a liberal but you're not wrong. What that administration did was straight up criminal

Bill Clinton made us weak and is directly responsible for 9/11. There's no way in hell we weren't going to war after the first plane hit.
If you want to claim they were pointless, you'll have to go back a lot further than Dubya or even his dad...
I don't agree with how we fought those wars, but that says nothing about the need to fight them.

I want nothing to do with a bush or Cheney for the rest of my life and I admittedly defended them many years ago but as time tells, we learn “the rest of the story”.

Afghanistan was maybe justified, but the way it was carried out it was not worth it. Hundreds of billions were wasted. Nation building plans never work in a society stuck in the Middle Ages.

Clinton does not get enough criticism for his weak response to terrorist attracts on the US. He did nothing in response to attacks on the WTC, USS Cole, US embassies, etc. He passed on offers to capture Bin Laden and the 911 attackers were already on US soil when he left office.

Stop voting GOPe.

They weren't pointless. They funneled billions if not trillions back to the MIC, funded a bunch of political campaigns and political drift, gave the CIA the poppy fields they needed to continue funding our drug epidemic here in the USA, and most importantly provided the impetus to create our surveillance state - the greatest affront to personal sovereignty in the modern era
If anything, they HAD purpose.

How can you say that? They made bank off of those contracts' kickbacks and the blood of some of yalls friends and sons, which to them is just and added bonus.
