Has the U.S.-China Cold War Now Begun?

Among the biggest victims of the coronavirus pandemic is the fiction of amicable U.S.-China relations. Those ties have been worsening for years, even before President Trump decided to call out Beijing’s predatory behavior starting in 2017. With the crisis now pitting America and China openly against each other, it seems impossible to salvage the old working ties. Washington now faces an unambiguously adversarial relationship with the Chinese Communist Party, one in which global ideological blocs may be drawn. Losing this new cold war would be a grievous blow to global transparency and liberal order. It would also threaten a significant reduction of American power and influence abroad.
RCP
And if so is Trump taking the same approach as Regan when he “outspent” the Soviets into bankruptcy?

No it has not.
Trump's administration has plenty of Wall Street bankers in it and they got what they wanted in the Phase 1 deal. They are not going to let that get screwed up.

It probably began when Trump started fighting for the U.S. over the Chinese.

I'm from the generation where Cold War meant nuclear war. I don't equate a financial war as a Cold War.

We're not losing and the US is in impeccable shape to survive a global war.
Its astonishing how ignorant people are, or they just simply hate the US that much.

How about we preempt any such cold war and drop a hydrogen bomb on China's 4000 largest cities and call it a day.
The world will be a better place and the cold war is over.

You can’t really think this is a good idea, right?

The new Cold War isn’t going to be about trade. It’ll focus on AI and quantum computing. And it barreling towards us

China has been at war with the USA since about 1989.
The USA is not at war with anybody. The USA military is, however, involved in police work overseas, fulfilling its duties of Global Police Force.
But, no, the USA is not in conflict or at war with China. If the USA ever dared to try to prosecute a Cold War against China, whichever political leader who dared to try such a hopeless endeavor would find himself vigorously opposed by China's many allies here in the USA. China has powerful allies here in the USA -- throughout the corporate and FedGov worlds. These allies would work VERY hard to unseat or depose any US leader who tried to launch some kind of "Cold War" against China.
I do not believe what I state here is controversial. I see it more of an observation - my observation and humble opinion.
China started this game of Chess in 1989. The USA is currently and for the first time in "Check" by China. Your move, USA.
PS "Cold War" is not Nuclear War. Nuke War is called "General War." Cold War is conflict throughout the economic, trade and "soft power" spectrum of conflict. That spectrum is mostly all non-violent. The most violent area on the Cold War spectrum is when the combatant nations wage a "shooting" war with proxy nations.

I think it's pretty warm at this point.
China basically released a virus on the world that they have recovered from quickly.
And now China is trying to extend it's power by offering to help various nations with the virus that they likely created and released.
And couple that with their "help" in shipping millions of defective medical devices/equipment and you have the makings for full blown germ warfare.
