t seems that message boards or other social media are not effective places to rationally discuss climate issues. People are too dug in with their opinions and mainly want to get in the last post to make their point. Climate change at least deserves serious study and discussion. I’ll readily acknowledge that I don’t have answers.
VOR - Not sure how many years you’ve been on this blue ball but I can remember ever since as a kid in the 70s, there’s been a “climate scare” of one type or another: New Ice Age, Acid Rain, the Ozone developing huge holes, Global Warming….now the modern catch-all is “Climate Change”.
Once I start to see a couple of key things happen, then I’ll start to think maybe it’s time for serious discussions
1) When I start seeing more consistent “unprecedented” instead of “worst since” events. “Worst since” means whatever has in fact occurred before.
2) These wealthy elites who lead the scare and have the means to do so start selling off their coastal estates and high-tailing it inland or to the mountains, etc. But for all the fear mongering going on, you still see an awful lot of them still purchasing and living in coastal properties that most anyone would agree are exceptional.
3) When I see leaders of the Western nations in a near panic and threatening/pleading/consistently/loudly and publicly calling out nations like China and India to get on board ASAP instead of the occasional fruitless state visit and coming back like the West alone will have to save the world, then maybe that panic and urgency is sincere.
Until then, I’m not sure what “discussions” are considered fruitful short of one being lectured and ultimately taking a knee to “the science” while the world has done pretty much what it always had over the eons and changes its climate over time.

It’s a fact, the climates around the world are going to change. We know that just like we know that the Sun will burn out, continents will collide, asteroids will hit the Earth and tremendous volcanic explosions will rock the planet one day.
Can we stop all these things? No
Can we try and adapt the best we can? Yes

Couple of thoughts:
The West alone will not save the world. If they are truly scared/serious, there’d be much more public pressure consistently applied to some of the world’s largest nations who show no interest or inclination in following along.
If they are truly scared/serious there’s nuclear energy.

We just need the climate to wear a mask!

No such thing. Just another democratic money grabbing talking point.

I absolutely think man can cause severe damage to our planet but only in isolated pockets.
A tanning factory can dump chemicals that end up in local water supplies and increase cancer……for a certain area and obviously not the whole world.
The island of plastic waste floating in the ocean is a real thing and does cause harm to marine life…but can not destroy the entire worlds oceans and all marine life.
Highly condensed centers of mass manufacturing can cause increased air pollution in terms of smog …for that area and the smog doesn’t cover the entire world.
I think there is a role for an organization like the EPA, although not the role they currently spend most of their efforts on. As a species, humans can do better at being good stewards of our environment however, I think it is asinine to think we can destroy the entire worlds thru “climate changer, global warming,”or whatever the word of the day is.
The climate has always been changing and always will be changing regardless of what we as a species do.

This new learning amazes me Sir Bedevere. Explain to me again how sheep’s bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.

I noticed recently the local weather people are acting like it's never gone below 32 degrees in Baton Rouge and that freezing temperatures are completely abnormal for this time of year.

I will say that I don’t believe in conspiracies about some mysterious worldwide cabal promoting a phony climate crisis. In fairness, I also think the “Deep State” is a lazy cop out that people toss out when they simplyare disgruntled.
Your intellectual laziness is ironic considering the above.
