Back in the day we respected the teacher and feared the principal. Now, teachers must be feared because principals get penalized when a student is sent to the principals office.

This teacher could be the future!!

This substitute teacher will be lucky if he avoids jail... it is unfortunate because the only discipline most of these kids see is in school...

Substitute teacher fights student who allegedly used racial slur

Are you actually suggesting that a teacher should punch a student if the student uses a word the teacher finds offensive?

They think they're shielded from consequences because they're "just kids," and too often, they're not wrong. I see that he was arrested, but wonder if that will stick or have any real punishment for attacking a teacher.

Smith remained hovering over the student, landing several more punches until a campus safety monitor and other students helped their classmate off the floor, according to Fox 5 Vegas.

“You’re going to jail, [slur],” the laughing student reportedly shouted as he was escorted away.

“I see a teacher fighting a student, I’m like ‘Wow,'” Valley High School junior Andrew Acevez told KTNV. “And then the teacher is just standing over him, just slapping him, saying stuff to him, and I’m like, ‘Wow, that’s crazy.'”

Are you saying the teacher's actions were justified?

I'm not going to pretend to know what happened. I'm pointing out that your initial assertion relies on incomplete information.

We need sacrificial lambs that will knock the lights out of these punks. There needs to be extreme pushback to stop the extreme activity of these punks!!

I haven't made any assertions, initial or otherwise.

All because the kid allegedly used a racial slur.

Yet liberals talk about “white fragility”

Yes
I think the teacher has to exercise more restraint in that situation. I'm not saying he can't touch the kid at all. Maybe get the kid in a bear hug. But he punched the student several times and even hit him when he was on the ground and the threat was over.

But hell, I'm looking at it from my easy chair. Maybe I'd feel differently if I were teaching today. It's a jungle out there.

Eh if the kid laid hands on the teacher, the teacher should be able to defend himself, including kicking the kid's arse...

You sound like the "shoot in the leg crowd"...

hit him when he was on the ground

This is probably where the teacher will be held accountable...

You are making an assumption here...

There was an anti-gun poster here from Houston who used to advocate for duty to retreat. They'd say you should try to tackle an armed intruder instead of shooting them.

Kind of reminded me of that...
