Easy way to express Tucker thoughts I believe is to say that there is no good way to stress using. It just needed done at the time. It’s best obviously to never need to use

This.

And don’t forgot Dec 7, 1941 was unprovoked.

Japan is the quintessential FAFO.

I'm not saying Japan was justified attacking Pearl Harbor but to say it was unprovoked is so laughable.

I swear the state of the education in this country is a joke. yes America had every right to embargo oil to Japan. they were encroaching on US interests in Asia. Japan technically attacked the US when it invaded the Philippines because that region used to belong to the US. Philippines was US territory until after WW2 when we granted them independence.

It was a horrible decision that had to be made but it was the correct one. Tucker is out of his mind. Context matters greatly here.

yup. japanaese fought gallantly and til the end in most battles. taking the mainland would have cost way more lives.

1.) There's obviously more context to whatever the original question was that they start to address at the end of the video.

2.) Hindsight is 20/20, and there's nothing like Monday-morning quarterbacking a decision made during a global war. Let's not pretend that any of us know what it was like to be in the shoes of the people who made that call.

But that’s not what he actually said.

This is not a direct transcript.
Watch the video

He clearly says that there is no way you can justify it.

He’s spouting commie propaganda and you are going along

tucker is correct.

also, the japanese were indeed considering surrendering before nukes were used. they were already demoralized by the soviets invading. their emperor wouldn't have let tokyo get destroyed

I like Tucker.

He's just wrong here. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki saved Japanese lives.

Period.

True. You can hardly get bigger Monday morning QBing than some of these ol’ baws sitting here in 2024 and acting like they would’ve known how to better handle 1945. smh.

No that’s not what he was saying.

That’s what you want him to be saying.

The quote in the tweet is not a transcription of what he said.

Did you watch the video?

I think you're confusing provoked with random. No, the attack wasn't a random action taken by Japan. There was history behind it. But it was unprovoked.

Said another way, if I call you a name and you punch me for it, that punch was provoked. If, however, you wait until nightfall, and block all the windows and doors to my home and burn it down with numerous people inside... That's unprovoked.

It's why they haven't been used since. And the yields now are much more powerful. It's easy in one's minds eye to scale up what happened in Japan and to be appalled. But as I said, this had to start somewhere.

Atomic bombs were dropped 3 years after the Battle of Midway (when the war was realistically over).

Again, they didn't even surrender after the first bomb.

Oh wow, deep stuff. I had thought nukes were just like fireworks until I listened... But now I know that they really are awful.

Why are we making weapons that are awful?

You can't even hug your children with nuclear arms...
