Western nations are statistically more stable with a solid infrastructure as well as social programs such as welfare and healthcare that are consistently ranked toward the top in terms of quality. They are also more inviting to outsiders and easier to get to than Asian countries such as Japan and South Korea.

If you are a broke dick chump living in a sub Saharan or Saharan nation in Africa or in a fricking desert like Syria and most of Iraq and you have no prospects to improve your life and little to no functioning government to ensure your rights or really day to day safety, why would you not go to Europe where 1) Food is plentiful and stable. 2) There is functioning government that will not discard your rights at the drop of a hat.3) Even if you get a menial job, it beats the no job back in Senegal or Central African Republic.

Same thing could be said about the migrant crisis on our Southern border. If you are a Haitian, would you rather take your chances with the TonTon Macoute or Texas authorities? If you are Honduran or from Guatemala if you could go to the US and it took you 2 weeks to get there, why would you not try?
