YesCalifornia.org (donations welcome)

quote:

In the Spring of 2019, Californians will go to the polls in a historic vote to decide by referendum if California should exit the Union, a #Calexit vote.

You will have this historic opportunity because the Yes California Independence Campaign will qualify a citizen’s initiative for the 2018 ballot that if passed would call for a special election for Californians to vote for or against the independence of California from the United States.

Oh yeah, it's totally legal because of the U.N.:

quote:

The Constitution says that each state in the Union shall retain every power which is not by the Constitution given to the federal government.
The Constitution does not give the power of secession to the federal government, nor does it expressly prohibit the states from exercising this power. Therefore, the power of secession is reserved to the states, or to the people, per the Tenth Amendment.

Further, the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution says that treaties ratified by Congress are the supreme law of the land. In 1945, the United States ratified the UN Charter, a treaty that guarantees peoples the right to self-determination in Article I. Thus, by ratifying this treaty, the United States adopted the right of self-determination as the supreme law of our land.

And this quote is kinda special:
quote:

Yes California supports and encourages Californians to stand up and take direct action, to be bold, and to unapologetically demand the liberation of the people of California from its captors

Did y'all know they were being held captive?

Can't we just end their funding, keep the military bases, charge them for defense and let them go?

Agree. There's no need for a war. With the extreme policies that would likely implement, they'll be begging to come back to the union in 5-10 years.

Not sure but that may be the time it takes to get through the referendum process.

This thing will get a vote!

it's a proposal for the ability to vote

There will never be a vote to secede. This is the most retarded thing I've ever read

Can you imagine how overrun with government dependents they'd become? How many people would flow across that border as well?

I support peaceful secession. It's probably a better solution than the red states having to secede in order to preserve our heritage/way of life. This would immediately level the playing field in terms of guaranteed electoral votes for Democrats. And there's no doubt that friendly economic relations with California would be maintained. Hopefully most of the liberal progressives would move there and California can remain an illegal Hispanic immigrant magnet while the U.S. enforces immigration law. Seems like a win/win to me.
