Apple Watch question

Guys, this is going to sound strange, but here it goes.
My wife has an Apple Watch that she swears that she took a picture with. Her phone was laying on the counter face up, and she had her watch off of her wrist and took a picture of her coworker with just the watch. There is no way the phone could have been at this angle when she snapped it. I looked online and couldn’t find anything on a Apple Watch having a camera on it. We know all about how to take a picture on your phone with the watch. She swears it was with the watch only.
Is this possible somehow?

There are no cameras in the Apple Watch, there is a remote camera viewfinder app on the watch, but it uses the phone camera to take the picture.

You can use your watch to take a pic with your phone. That's about it. So you could put your phone down and take a pic of someone?

My wife swears her phone was laying flat and the picture she took was with the watch facing forward. I think she may be confused

You guys are slipping! - We need to see a picture of your wife to be able to tell...
...But like others said - there is no camera in the watch. There is an app on the watch that will trigger the camera ON THE PHONE.
