Greece- Island hopping

Which 2-3 islands are a must for a couple. Not looking for too much of a crowd nor partying all night. Mostly beaches, food, history, landscape, culture and architecture.
The two that stand out to me are Crete, Paros and Rhodes.
Traveling to these looks like a nightmare. Any suggestions on air travel/ ferry? Looking around September-ish.

Paros is by far my favorite. Love it.
Milos is cool if you want very rustic, laidback
Crete is HUGE, just letting you know that. massive island. Very cool from what I gather though

Logistics can be difficult. I'd recommend doing islands close by each other, relatively speaking.
The 3 you mentioned are very spread out.
Maybe like 3 Cyclades together, ferry between them.

Santorini is touristy as hell but for good reason. I say it’s still a must but I wouldn’t stay too close to Oia. Imerovigli was in a perfect spot on santorini imo. Also give Naxos a look. We loved our 4 days in each of those.

Look into Naxos. It's charming and quintessential Greek without the crowds or steep prices.
We took a SeaJet ferry boat from Naxos to Santorini, and it was easy and quick. My travel agent booked flights for us to go from Athens to Naxos, and from Santorini to Crete. We had to layover in Athens when we moved from Santorini to Crete, which was a pain and took way too long, but I'm not sure what the ferry options were between those two points.

Naxos and Paros are a great pair.
They are right next to each other, a very quick ferry ride, and are also very different in a lot of ways.

I loved Crete. Will be going back eventually

Rhodes is awesome. Went a couple years ago in August and wasn’t very crowded. Felt like it was an overlooked Greek island. Rented a car and drove around the entire island. Took a ferry to Symi island. Would 100% recommend

Andros. No need to hop. It’s got it all.

One more vote for Naxos. My wife and I went there and Santorini. Santorini is beautiful and is worth seeing, but it felt like more of a scene. Naxos felt more laid back and authentic. The town is nice for walking and we also enjoyed renting a car and exploring.
I've also heard great things about Paros and Crete but haven't been.

I must say it’s difficult to pick which island we would enjoy. I believe food and beaches are at the top of our list. Every island is slightly different. I didn’t see anyone mention Mykonos.

Its very difficult to narrow it down. Very difficult. Do your research. Santorini Dave is a good resource.
I have not been to Mykonos because I had no interest in it. Its uber expensive and more of a party scene that I am interested in.
Paros is a good mix of Mykonos and some other islands. Great food, decent nightlife in Naoussa (where you should stay), and its got some really unique beaches, and is much more laid back. More couple oriented and "sophisticated".
Naxos is the biggest of the Cyclades and produces a lot of food for the islands. More natural beaches, a little more family oriented.
Santorini, I would do it just to do it. Its expensive and exhausting, but you just have to see it.

Really? I wasn’t impressed with Corfu.

Okay , look at Siros, capital of the Cyclades. Hotel Hemes.
From there, you can take day trips to Tinos, Mykonos, and if you're interested in visiting a 5000 year old city, Delos, birthplace of Apollo and Artimis.
We have stayed on Mykonos and enjoyed it. And Santorini.... it's another world. If you go to Santorini, get tomato fritters at every meal. Hotel Atlantis.
And spend at least 2 nights in Athens before the cab ride to Piraeus to catch your boat to the islands.

Santorini has many, easily accessible beaches especially if you stay around the middle of the island. Crete doesn’t but was our favorite island to visit. It’s huge so just a few days won’t put a dent in what you can do here. They have beaches but it’s very spread out. Can’t go wrong with either.

Yeah, but Santorini is not known for beaches at all, they are not the best in the Cyclades by a long shot. not really why you go to Santorini.

Another vote for Naxos. Gorgeous, super chill, not crowded, not overly expensive.

Wife and I did Milos and Sifnos recently. Would highly recommend both.

What's the weather like there in September?
My wife's cousin is getting married on one of the Greek islands in early September, and we just booked flights.
