Yeah, that and ORD were surprises to me when you have Hobby and Midway.

I understand the attempt though, as you are an hour away from the other, but the existing are major hubs for SW.

Just easier access to people in North Houston and the Woodlands.

ETA - Same with ORD, if you are trying to get anywhere in North Chicago flying into ORD is much easier than Midway.

Southwest is leaving Bellingham, Houston Bush, Syracuse, and Cozumel.

Cutting I thought it said half of Atlanta and 1/3 of Chicago routes

I'm not shocked at these cuts given probably low flight loads, people tightening budgets, and nearby airports

About damn time... the last 2-3yrs has been hell for regular travelers.

I'm ok with packed flights as long as those people are frequent flyers and know what to do. The amount of stupidity lately is astounding.

Would not recommend Orlando if those are your requirements

I'm not sure how flight loads have been out of any of the four closed airports but I'd be curious if anyone found data on it. Syracuse has Rochester, buffalo, Albany, and NYC within a few hours drive. IAH has Hobby, Bellingham has Seattle

Flew back from Orlando Wednesday and it actually wasn't terrible. We boarded in 20m and pushed back 5 min early. I was shocked.

But orlando is to be expected with all the kids and families. I've said it before, there was a massive shift in quality of passenger post-covid lockdowns. Traveling became miserable and its still going in most ways.
