He commited to UT when they visited him at home. His dad stormed out of the visit and got in his truck and drove off. He backed off the commitment after that. IIRC he was also about to transfer to UT after his freshman season. But they hired Mumme....

IIRC the only battles fought in the north were Gettysburg, and some raids into Indiana and Ohio by John Hunt Morgan and his Kentuckians. The southern war strategy was to defend their 13 claimed states until the north got tired of war, and came to the table to discuss. ...

You may want to look into why KY didn't secede officially. The unionists in the state felt slavery was best protected by the Union. A risky confederacy meant certain death to slavery if it lost a war. They didn't stay in the union out of some love for the North. Or because they hated the south. The ...
