re: Danny Etling on tv playing in the UFL right now
Posted by PetermanFanClub on 6/1/24 at 2:42 pm
Always liked Danny. Had a nice 2017 guiding us to the Citrus Bowl.
On his 11th team in 7 years (NFL, CFL & UFL).
Wish him all the best....
re: What are the redeeming qualities of Louisiana?
Posted by PetermanFanClub on 5/18/24 at 1:27 pm
Friendly people, food, festivals, mild winters, outdoor recreation, lower cost of living, hunting and fishing, and LSU athletics.
Also, southerners are more likely to stay close to family (not move away), more likely to be religious, more charitable (despite lower income).
We good people.

re: Stray Dog. Is She A Good Girl or a Murder Machine?
Posted by PetermanFanClub on 5/18/24 at 1:17 pm
Our wonderful boxer died and soon after we started visiting a local shelter to adopt a pup. The shelter told us they had a boxer-mix that we'd love. We adopted her. She was a beauty. We had three kids at the time ages 5, 7 and 9. The dog would show her teeth and tuck her tail around my 5 year old...

Beautiful dog. You have a big heart caring for her. May very well have some pit in her. I would be very cautious since you have a young child in the home. First sign of aggression (snarling, growling and tail tucked) with your child and I'd get the dog a new home immediately. ...

I thought TE Pimpton looked great. We should be dangerous at TE. Lacy looked ready to explode. Maybe he gained some weight too, not as thin looking....
re: Kentucky needs to get excited about Scott Drew!

Over the past 13 years Drew's winning percentage is 71%. Calipari's is 75%. One coaches at a Baptist school in little ole Waco, TX. The other coaches at a Top 3 bball program. Not exactly apples to apples....

It would be a great hire. Drew turned a private Baptist university into a top 10 bball program. He can do even better at Kentucky. Class guy too. A+++...

I second Raising Arizona.
I'll also offer up Tommy Boy, Happy Gilmore and any Peter Sellers comedy....
re: When did "the news" flip to propaganda?
Posted by PetermanFanClub on 3/29/24 at 7:14 pm
I remember watching PBS evening news in the early 1990s. I was just starting to follow politics. The news host introduced Senator Teddy Kennedy and a Republican (may have been Gingrich) to debate an issue. The host described Kennedy as the "liberal lion" and the Republican as the "archconservativ...

I agree that with the Clinton–Lewinsky scandal (starting in 1995) the mainstream media rallied to protect their president. It has only gotten worse....
re: My Mom has been getting worse with her dementia

Been through this with my dear mother. Just be there and be present. Love her and show her affection. Kiss and hug her. Even when my mom forgot names and forgot her grandchildren she still loved looking at photo albums of her mom, dad and grandparents. For her, the oldest memories were the last...
re: Will Patrick Peterson be a HOFer?

Other accolades not mentioned are 4 time All Conference and All Rookie team by PFWA.
I think he eventually makes it in, but not at first....
re: Best lead singer male/female for a rock band

I'd say Ann Wilson, but she's been named already. Let's go with Chrissie Hynde.
Roger Daltrey deserves a vote.
Personally, I can't listen to Geddy Lee. I know they're a great band, but that nasally voice... nope. ...

I love scotch. Always looking for a good deal in BR. Just picked up Compass Box’s Spice Tree (gift set including two glasses) for $57 at Martins.
Any suggestions under $70/bottle?...

Was fortunate to spend two weeks in Italy. Amazingly beautiful cities and towns. They were not built for large vehicles. Really only saw compact cars, scooters and bikes. I believe most of those historic cities lose their aesthetic appeal when large trucks and SUVs are traveling about within the...
re: Rip Carl Weathers

I'm a big fan of Mr. Weathers. He always played a likable character. Seemed like a guy you'd want to know and be friends with. Thanks for the memories. May he rest in peace. Prayers for his family.
On a lighter note... Carl's passing made me think of my favorite Homer Simpson quote:
