re: Schools in Nola are deliberately keeping students inside during the eclipse.

We live in the path of totality so our schools are closed Monday. Everything in Little Rock is closed and the grocery stores and gas stations have been madhouses this week.
They expect more people to visit Little Rock for this than ever before, and Little Rock is not a town that is used to havin...

Yes sir. So much to be grateful for. It seems we have more coming tonight. I’ll be sleeping lightly, I’m sure. ...

Tonight has sucked. Trapped in a tiny closet with 4 crying scared kids as it went over our house. Didn’t drop down ever. We are in west Little Rock right in the path. Didn’t even knock my plants over but the sounds were eerie. ...

I got back in the water after baby #4 a couple months ago. Did a 3600 yard in an hour which I felt proud of. I felt awesome the rest of the day but I really can’t swim more than once a week and meet my fitness goals; not the way I like to swim, anyway. And my stroke is just as good if not a little b...

Me and your wife are same. I’d dominate the swim for women and men, then I’d eat their dust on the bike and run. Still would wind up in the top 10% or so. I enjoyed it because it was the only thing that came close to competitive swimming. But then I did one mid summer in LA heat….ended up being my l...

Curious to know if you took up triathlons and such? Kind of a natural transition for high level swimmers bc you can dominate in the water and slightly suck on the other two parts and still have a great time.
And… do you find that unless you do a high intensity workout where you stay anaerobic ra...

I will say… when in peak swimming condition, I bet I could run 30 miles without checking up. Being elite in swimming (I didn’t consider myself elite) makes any other sport easy AF.
Our cross country AND football coach made their teams train in the pool with us before regular season. Those big boy...

Wow. That’s impressive for breast stroke. I bet your knees are all bad. I forgot breast stroke’s impact on knees. I have a disorder that causes hyper flexion, subluxed joints. It both helped and hurt me in swimming bc my shoulders could click in and out of socket without much pain. But breaststroke ...

Yeah! I hear that. Swimming was never a financial burden bc if it was I would have heard about it from my parents. Now music, however…my parents explained that’s why I got a hooptie, they always told me I could look at my Japanese handmade flute when I got upset with driving my “grandma” car. ...

Swimming is not easy on your body. Maybe less impact for lower body and avoiding knee/ankle injuries more common in other sports… but my shoulders were so jacked by my sophomore year that the ortho surgeon wanted to operate. Dad said no, and instead I had to quit all strokes besides free, hence why ...

Yeah, because it’s awful. 500 or above is vomit territory. Maybe I’m subconsciously keeping my kids out to avoid that PTSD ...

Swimming really is a brutal sport. It’s fantastic and brutal all at once. It’s the hardest sport I ever did. Not saying getting beat up on the football field is easier, by any stretch. But, I did distance swimming and the mental challenge of those events at a higher level is as much as the physical....

I swam growing up. I swam for a club team and my school team. We did the training and conditioning during practices, and in off season. I trained on my own with a trainer off season. My kids aren’t in swimming. 7-8 am swim meets, all day long. Ugh. I understand why my parents popped in and out and n...

I did. Last year… did dry January and couldn’t believe how much better I felt. Decided to continue for a couple more months to realize more benefits. Found out I was pregnant; so then just kept it going. Chose to go the entire year of 2023 and have no desire. It causes more harm than good, i found i...

I will not go back to Disney until Genie+ is gone. I’ve been 4 times and the last was in 2022 not long after genie + was rolled out.
It was a terrible experience. I had to be on my phone at 6:55 am waiting to book lightening passes for the day, in a perfect spot for WI-FI, had to leave our room,...

Got two pottery barn slip covered couches ten years ago. They’re white and in surprisingly great shape. They don’t look as good as they did when we got them but they’ve also survived a flood, several moves and 4 kids. Not getting rid of them for a while, if I can help it. The frame itself is in perf...
