Why are most women not funny?

It's the general consensus that most women arent funny. Putting professional comedy aside for the most part, why arent women funny?
The most logical argument I've heard is that men prefer and use humor that is more assertive/aggressive.
While women prefer humor that brings together social cohesion.
Maybe these differences determine what is considered funny

Humor requires an objective perspective and ability to consider alternative ways of thinking about something. Women are too wrapped up in their first person view which is also heavily influenced by their emotion.

I have known some women who could make me laugh. Generally though, they are few and far between. Like the others said, they really don’t need to be funny.

With me it’s probably my fault, I generally don’t listen to them past the first sentence. My wife tells me I’m forgetful because she told me that the other day, I didn’t forget, I just didn’t listen to it…
There was a commercial that had a football referee getting his arse chewed out by a coach and just ignored it. They said how does he do that.
Then they show him at home with his wife chewing on him and he’s ignoring it. That sums it up…
