Corey Raymond to be named new LSU DB coach...

UPDATE 3: Looks like Corey Raymond is nearing agreement for his return to LSU.
UPDATE 2: Situation is very fluid...more moving pieces than normal for a process to replace coaches, which has caused delays. A second source has told me that CR very much in play but "so many moving pieces right now".
UPDATE 1: There is a delay in the announcement due to LSU still working things out with other coaches being hired...they want to announce them all at once. But my sauce assures me that Raymond is indeed the new DB coach.

Not super crazy about this but it could be a lot worse. If CBK and Blake Baker want him to return to BR, that’s fine with me.

Yeah let’s hire the guy that just got fired because he missed all of his top targets on the recruting trail and had abysmal secondaries his last 4 years. 2 of those at LSU.

I’ll throw in that we are all probably so gun shy from Les hiring his BBQ buddies and later Ed with Bo and Canada type hires.
I’m sure that Kelly knows very well everything that posters are saying here negative about the end of Raymond’s tenure at LSU and then getting fired at Florida. But he is still choosing to hire him.
Given the fact that Kelly got rid of
“his guys” Polian and Cooks and also moved on from House and Steeples, I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
I’ll also trust that Frank Wilson advised him favorably on the move and Woodward is willing to sign off on it.
Maybe Raymond simply got caught up and drug down by the Orgeron years, and then wound up in a bad spot in Gainesville.
Coming home Will hopefully rejuvenate him.

Our DBs are bad enough…going in the complete wrong direction. Defense wins championships and BK really can’t afford to botch this hire

If it is Raymond then he needs to step up his game because he got lazy in his last few years at LSU thinking he deserved better. I hope that is out of his head now and this could be his last shot to redeem himself for the last few years of subpar seasons at LSU and UF.

Baker has been a Safety coach previously. I think his bio states he was DC/S at Missouri’.
If I’m betting CR came under the recommendation of Frank based on his ability to recruit, because let’s face it, we need dogs back there again. And FW and BK and BB collectively signed off on it knowing BB can oversee it. Let’s see who all the hires first thought. If they hire a LB coach it will be pretty telling.
IF the CR rumors are true, Chicken’s sauce could be a troll, Or just making chicken sauce.
