I’ll say that this is a mistake for another reason too.
Traditionally, Thanksgiving (and what I think they’re trying to push with Christmas) are days where families gather round to celebrate and throw the games on for everyone to watch afterwards. IE, they’re marketed toward a wider audience. ...

Unless I’m mistaken, with a 12 team playoff in place in 2019, LSU would have been a top four seed and gotten a bye. They would have only had to win 3 playoff games on top of the 12 regular season and 1 SEC-c.

As a few others have mentioned, given the number of schools, some booster will always be willing to fork over money somewhere.
While people may get tired of paying six figures to rotational DT, someone will always be desperate.
