Covid would have never been an issue if we weren’t such lard asses. I mean they were incentivizing getting the vaccine by giving out free Krispy Kreme donuts. Tells you all you need to know about the state of our society

Weight is a number. Don’t focus on it and it will improve if you eat right, take vitamins, and stretch/exercise.
The bottom line is just to eat less food. It’s that simple.

This is the results of an emphasis on feelings, not facts.

My older brother and sister have always been thin (or at least at a healthy weight). I was always thin until about the 4th grade when I got chunky (relatively speaking). While school shopping ahead of my 4th grade year the regular pants did not fit and I had to get a "husky" size. My mom absolutely flipped her shite. Did it hurt my feelings then? Sure. But that shame caused me to make changes to get back down to a healthy weight. Same for when I gained too much weight in college. The "healthy at any size BS" didn't exist then. I was fat and didn't fricking like it. So I did something about it and haven't been fat since (over 20 years).

Not being fat takes a little bit of effort. It's not always "fun". Sometimes you have to pass on the ice cream after lunch AND dinner. Sometimes you eat grilled chicken over the much tastier fried chicken. But we have many in our society that don't want to do those "hard" things. However, they also don't want to be ashamed of their fat asses. So the solution? Make having a fat arse "beautiful". The irony is that mindset is horrible for their well being...not mine.

To this day I am so glad my parents "shamed" me as a kid in thinking being fat was not a good thing....because it isn't!

The rise does correlate directly with rise in HFCS instead of cane/beet sugar used in a whole host of consumer products.

I think my biggest objection to the obesity “epidemic” is how little scenery there is at American beaches these days. It’s awful.

It's not just that. You now have morbidly obese people wearing clothes (or lack thereof) at the beach that should only be worn by the fittest of us all. I'm talking 230lb+ women in thongs and string bikinis.

A few years back I was only a family vacation at the beach with my kids. There was a girl in her 20's in front of us on the beach who easily weighed 250lbs (at least) in a string bikini with a thong bottom. My daughter (then 7) had never seen a thong bikini. She started giggling and asked my wife where was the rest of that lady's swimsuit?" Before my wife could answer I blurted out "Maybe her butt ate it?" My wife was furious I would say that in front of my daughter. My response was my daughter needs to know there should be some degree of "shame" associated with morbid obesity...and it had NOTHING to do with superficial beauty. It had everything to do with simply just a healthy lifestyle.

Just because "glorifying" an anorexic body type for females is harmful doesn't mean it is "good" to glorify a morbidly obese body type. BOTH can be bad.

I started putting on some weight as I've gotten a little older. I've since lost most of it in the past 6 months. You have to eat less as you age or increase your physical activity.

quote:

As we age, our metabolism slows and the rate at which we break down food decreases by 10 percent each decade after age 20.

Metabolism is the amount of energy (calories) your body uses to maintain itself. The number of calories your body burns when it’s at rest is determined by your basal metabolic rate (BMR) as well as how much you exercise and your muscle-to-fat ratio.

“By the time we’re 50, there’s a 30 percent drop,” says Karen Andry, a licensed and registered dietitian and bariatric coordinator at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital.

What really makes me sad about the obesity epidemic is how you see more and more kids overweight like its completely normal/acceptable. I'm not even that old (early 30s) and growing up there was maybe a fat kid or two in class. Now, I feel like there's almost more fat kids in class vs skinny kids. These kids are already being setup to fail and be fat their whole lives. If you grow up being big, thats an even bigger uphill battle to climb once you get older to overcome. This obesity epidemic is only going to get worse in the next few years. Sad.

This is not accurate. Our metabolism does slow a little but, but the actual studies show that weight gain is caused by people eating more and moving less as they age, not their near dropping.

I’m not defending anyone being overweight but men and women lose weight at different rates and places. I know y’all like to fat shame women, but maybe realize most gain 30 pounds per pregnancy and losing it takes hard work and discipline.

Women’s hormones and bodies are built to store fat for pregnancy, and beyond. As we get older those hormones make it much more challenging to lose weight. I was a size zero for 30 years now I’m a 4. I exercise daily and eat healthy, but it’s tougher as you age.

Next time you see an obese person, look for their soda or energy drink.

I guess Mingo knows more than the doctors and professionals at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital

That and free fast food burgers.

One of the most disgusting things our government did during the event.
