We have not seen a significant daytime hurricane in a while it seems. Light must bring them out.

Oh shite, this guy was a very prolific poster on StormCast forums. I don't know what is or isn't true, but that kitten is on a bench, with a few inches of water...

Desantis said during his most recent press conference they have 100 portable cell towers ready to be moved into place.

Tried calling my Aunt in Port Charlotte and it wouldn't go through.

My great uncle wanted me to evacuate to his place in port charlotte earlier this week. I told him nah, but offered to pick him up to head towards Miami. He told me nah, and I went on my way. His house is well above the storm surge, but I still can’t stop worrying a bit.

Cell towers are down all over. We’ve had no luck connecting with a couple of friends.

I didn’t get to listen in today bc i had to watch the gov press conference but yesterday, i heard that 600 of AT&T’s cell towers were in the path of hurricane force winds …so I imagine the other 2 carriers are in the same boat

The Gov said that 100 portable cell towers were ready to be deployed as soon as the storm passes

We’ve had luck getting sms text messages to and from our family in Port Charlotte that stayed.

Close to Midway and Edgewater if that helps.

DeSantis has handled this all incredibly well. The guy looks like he’s ready to be president. Let's see if he mans up and declines any FedGov help.

I bet Biden withholds it until Desantis meets “conditions” that align with the lefts agenda. If he refuses, no aid. Media will torch Desantis for it

The sun has set in North Florida going to be an interesting night and day tomorrow. Not in fear for safety but damage to house from trees.

Another reason I just don’t understand why some people don’t evacuate. You could possibly be completely cut off from calling for help after the storm passes.

I get some people can’t afford it or have other obstacles to evacuating (lots of animals, etc). But if you have the means to do so I would think I would rather be annoyed at it not hitting and it was a waste versus scared shitless and regretting staying.

Especially these people in coastal cities that have bodies of water as part of their backyards (canals, etc).

They were there in 04 for Charley and said this is 10x worse. Sounds like water is their main issue, but they are still hunkered down in their safe room.
