UT will land ahead of TCU and Oregon. Bama was ahead of them, and UT is better than Bama. LSU may fall in at 7, but it will be very close w/ Oregon.

If we were to win out, our two losses would have come early in the year and it is very clearly a much improved team. 10-2 sec west champ and sec champ is absolutely going to playoffs

Having said all that i think we are a year away (if jayden returns) from competing with Georgia

I think we are 7 or 8. But if the committee loved us enough to put us at 10 after the rebels game, then 6 is a possibility.

just keep winning. the SEC champ will never get left out. win all your remaining games. that's all you have to do.

Yes, an SEC champ can most definitely be left out. If we lose to Arky or 4&8, and then beat Georgia in the SECCG, we will be Champs and definitely won't make the top 4.

The question is, "Will a two loss LSU team make it in over a one loss UGA and UT?". I would say yes, but there is no guarantee, especially since it will probably come down to LSU or UT and we know what happened when we played each other.

Maybe, but if Oregon wins out, I think they probably jump UT when they win the PAC 8 championship while UT stays home and watches LSU and Georgia Duke it out.

UT is going to be a HUGE fan of whomever LSU plays over the next 4 weeks.

ETA - UT's schedule is as easy as it gets over the next 3 weeks. Mizzou, USCe, and Vandy...

Even if we win the SEC Championship, I don't know if that is enough to vault a Tennessee team that would have one less loss than us and has a dominant win in Baton Rouge.
I hear you, but we would've just beaten UGA, which beat Tenn pretty soundly.

Agreed that it's hard to take 2-loss LSU over 1-loss Tenn, when Tenn kicked our arse, but the Committee looks at the season as a whole.

We'd have a good chance.

We won't be. We'll be behind Tennessee and Oregon.

#1 Georgia 9-0
#2 Ohio State 9-0
#3 Michigan 9-0
#4 TCU 9-0
#5 Tennessee 8-1
#6 Oregon 8-1
#7 LSU 7-2

#8 -#12 in whatever order:

UCLA 8-1
USC 8-1
Ole Miss 8-1
Bama 7-2
Clemson 8-1

But hang in there folks. It will work itself out.

Kinda hard to imagine Tenn dropping that far down to 6.

I think it has to do with HOW Tennessee lost

As the first and only 2 loss National Champion in the BCS era, it’s only fitting LSU be the first 2 loss National Champion in then CFP era. It’s just this teams destiny to win it all this year.

Yes, the SEC Champion has always made the playoff, but the SEC champion in those scenarios has never had 2 losses.

My guy, there is zero chance on gods green earth that they would leave out an SEC champion with wins over a top 10 ole miss team, Bama and Georgia

They beat #9 and #12 since you are going off of the rankings at the time that they played. And they have one less loss than us.

Tonight is irrelevant. If we win out we are in.

The early positions are often an indication of what eventuality the committee is trying to prepare for. If LSU is 5 or 6 when they play the SECCG, I think it all but guarantees that they get in with a win.

they arent putting a 1 loss tennessee team in over an SEC champ. SEC in this instance would take one of the 1 loss teams and LSU or just one of the one loss teamsthey take 0 SEC in the playoffs in this instance before they take 3
