Of course the TV has to break in with the walking stool bag to come out to give a speech with no questions. The speech is so rich coming from his mouth. It’s trying to talk and about everything that has allowed his son to exist.

Many do not know that "Native Americans" had many slaves..

..besides also being rampant murderers

The tear in the Indians eye in the 70s ads was propagandist. They were treacherous.

I used to believe it but began waking when learning that Asians were not all noble and intelligent

The greatest failure of this country was its treatment of its Native American people.

Conquering invaders have no obligation to care for, protect or comfort those that are being conquered.

There is no such thing as a native American.

The very idea that the United States owed anything to the people who happened to be here when Europeans arrived is ridiculous. Much of the death and destruction of them was done by other countries, or people representing no country.

Both conquering lands/people and slavery were common practices back then.

Perhaps we should have avoided the Americas and let the indigenous remain as they were until maybe the Chinese or the Japanese show up. I'm sure they would have treated them a lot different.

That was very said. We are never going to get over the past as long as the race baiters keeping living in it. I so wish that someone would ask Biden why Thomas' opinion on it is bad.

I heard that Thomas response had a dig at the new black broad on the bench, was this final paragraph it or was there some other piece specially calling her out?

That's the Hollywood me-too argument: "You slept your way to the top, but now you are crying "me-too" and now I can't sleep my way to the top."

Both are horrible, lazy arguments. You can participate in systems that you disagree with, especially as a child or young adult, and still fight to dismantle them.

Lots of people benefit from bad programs.

"The Myth of the Noble Savage" was actually assigned reading for me. Very instructive, and peels away the bullshite of everyone living in peace at one with the land, etc.

The ethnic cleansing and genocide of Native Americans, particularly the Five Civilized Tribes is the greatest atrocity committed by this country. It’s not debatable. Slavery was an institution dating back to the beginning of human history. It is wrong but it brought those people here and was not necessarily a death sentence or even a terrible existence. The bigger atrocities committed against African Americans have been in the form of the cultural warfare and sabotage waged by those in power.

As for the opinion on the “greatest failure” of our country, it’s none of the above. Our greatest failure as a country is the failure to defend liberty. State’s Rights were critical to the success of our country and to upholding the constitution. The outcome of the civil war has led to an ever increasing expansion of the federal government that has led to governmental overreach, a loss of freedom, and the ability for us to govern ourselves in an effective manner. While our tyrants might only be 1,500 miles away instead of 3,000, they are tyrants nonetheless. We(the majority of Americans not living in the northeast or west coast) are in the same boat as the colonies, our governance being dictated by a couple of large populations with drastically different values. This will be our undoing.

I can formulate the progressive argument for you right here against Thomas.

"Clarence Thomas benefited from affirmative action and now he wants to deny other blacks and minorities the same opportunities the he enjoyed."

And here is the response to that:

"Is that why Joe Biden fought so hard against Clarence Thomas' nomination? That he stands against affirmative action?"

He benefitted from AA his entire adult life and today says "it has always been wrong", thats a bit inconsistent at a minimum.

But universities will work around, all this does is say you cant enroll or exclude solely based on race. And I AGREE with that.
