It’s so bad. Webb is a joke. The greens are horrible. LSU level. I get they are punching but punching what? sand?
Santa Maria has a ten cart line on Saturday mornings.
I’m annoyed these are golf options.
Jelly of y’all with good courses in your towns.

100%

Public courses in BR are an absolute travesty. Private ones aren’t bad but there really aren’t many of those either. Even within driving distance it’s mostly mediocre. Shame really but I guess we don’t have the golf community to support much.

Unfortunately it is what it is. JS Clark is actually still in good shape since it opened back up. Only a matter of time before it gets overplayed. Baton Rouge needs at least one more good course to take some pressure away from Santa Maria and Webb. If LSU course was in good shape that would help out a lot.

Hot take, I actually think BR area golf is underrated.

Just played at an average course in Denver a few weeks ago and paid $80+ on a Thursday to get thrown into a packed tee sheet and 5 hour round. Don't get me started on Scottsdale, or anywhere where you can't play half the year because of winter for that matter.

You get what you pay for and $$ goes a long way down here. Webb and Clark are exceptionally cheap, and Santa Maria, the Island, Beaver Creek, etc. are all a great value for $50-$60 on the weekends and usually in good/great shape.

BR golf may not have a variety top-tier style courses to choose from, but you can play year-round at some solid mid-tier courses for much cheaper than most other cities around the country.
