Why didn’t we list Mason Smith eligible for Georgia game last year?

He then could have been suspended for that game and might have lost his medical redshirt , but was he really going to play more than 3 years at LSU??

Probably assumed he could pick the game like KB did last year.. until the NCAA changed procedure this summer and mandated when he sits

Maybe because he was injured and couldn’t play?

Because the NCAA wouldn’t be able to see the move you are trying to make or anything.

Doesn't matter. The NCAA doesn't have an Injured Reserve or a Players Unable To Perform list.

Tell the NCAA to Back Off

So last year LSU was able to pick the game to suspend Boutte and Maason, but Smith is injured. The initial violation was pre-NIL but they don't retroactively put NIL in effect.

Fast forward they require a 1st game suspension even though the previous rule was "pick a game"?

So previous rules only count when the NCAA decides they do.

Should've activated him for the bowl game, then suspended him.

ETA: LSU could get out of this if they really wanted, depending on how much of a dick they want to be. Only problem is it could put a target on their backs. They could take it through the court system. I'm sure there's a judge in BR that would help them out. Get an injunction on Friday before the game, play game, cancel injunction after the game.
