I remember. But maybe that was limited to downtown.

I ran plenty red lights in BR. The only way to get anywhere.

Why people of this Parish, on both sides of the aisle, chose to entrust more tax dollars to this administration is beyond me. More taxes, no change.

The moving timelines are shitty but with the global chip shortage my guess is the supplier to this MOVEBR program is/was having severe sourcing issues.

It's been a mayor campaign topic for a while. And there have been several tax votes on it over the years.

The lights are already synchronized. You’re guaranteed to catch every red light.

I’ve been asking for one thing for a decade now: a no-left-turn onto Burbank from East Boyd

They built the new Box a decade and a half ago but still haven’t figured out the TWO sets of traffic lights to get people to/from the stadium.

And they’re supposed to be controlling an entire city?

Upon completion, all 470 signals will be connected and centrally managed in real time, officials say. Staff will be able to adjust signal timing to account for wrecks, special events, construction and emergency evacuations without having to send a crew to the signals.

What’s weird is I get on I-12 every morning and I sit in traffic, yet I see no lights. No off ramps are backed up onto the interstate to cause it, so I don’t believe traffic light synchronization problems are the cause of our traffic issues.

Wasting tax dollars on “synchronizing the traffic lights” has been a boondoggle for decades. I can remember my parents joking about it when I was a kid. It was a scam then and it’s a scam now.

That means hackers will have 100% control of our traffic. Maybe that will be an improvement.

I feel like alot of the lights in BR are done. Central is a different story, but we know the parish president doesn't care about that area.

If you take a moment to read the article from the advocan't you will see that the city engineers keep citing that they are having a hard time keeping up with the 'ever' changing technology.

Some contractor is selling them the 'latest' hardware/software tech on a yearly basis ( making superbank) because they will have to update the entire system so that they can interface with it. Either they are stupid or they are on the take with the contractor.

Similar to what the school system does on a yearly basis in purchasing a new 'learning system' and software instead of real books.

No doubt. But assuming each signal can be adjusted at its control box, one would think that two city employees--one in a small car with a calibrated speedometer and one at the control box--could get very close to accurate synchronization on large parts of the system. One drives through at the regulated speed and the other goes from box to box adjusting the timing until you can clear all the lights without catching a red. It would not be quick, but it couldn't be slower than what's happening (or not happening) now.

I distinctly remember when the Mayor ran on "flipping the switch" to turn on the synchronized traffic lights on day one as soon as she was elected in 2017, as if the work had already been completed, but she was somehow the only who could activate them. This after Kip talked about it for at least the previous ~4 years.
