thats not what i said. I said Joe Biden promised loan forgiveness got the federal govt in on it to get votes for mid term.(didnt work but)

So you blame Biden for trying it but not the Republicans who forced a lawsuit on it?
no

I believe biden is a pos who knew this shite(loan forgiveness) wouldnt work but did it for votes at mid term and then in turn fricked everyone over by putting it on the courts that shut it down knowingly, that his plan that involved the federal govt and getting students actively involved by having them fill out loan forgiveness apps etc all along was for votes for mid term that didn't even work. Thats what im saying. But yet he can give 100s of billions of dollars to Ukraine and no one cares. We are our own worst enemy! We are down right stupid.

Sounds like she will need roommates for a bit longer than expected so she can pay back the money she chose to borrow.

Of course people should blame democrats for promising something that they knew (or should’ve known) was illegal/unconstitutional. Who, except POS dirtbags, would blame the people that are protecting taxpayers from having their tax money stolen?

However, if the fricking federal govt can "give" away billions upon billions of dollars to the middle east, Ukraine and other countries, no one says a word about it, why not invest "instead" in "our" future and pay some school loans off?

How about no to both.

People who took out the student loans need to repay them. Period. I did. It sucked. I lived through a lot of very lean years in my 20s and early 30s while I was paying my debt off. The govt can’t afford to send billions to Ukraine and it can’t afford to expunge student debt.

The smart people with student loans kept making payments. Pay that shite down while interest wasn’t being added. I’ve no sympathy for people who are scrambling now.

I totally agree becuse when you graduate school , your mind is prepared to pay loan notes once you start working so you factor that into your budget "first". Many people went ahead and accrued other loans thinking their school loans were gonna be gone in the wind. This is where the problem is that Joe Biden created.

Biden did not start the loan pause…

I believe the workaround is going to be to allow people to unoffically defer repayment until death.

I paid through the pause. But I understand that many people needed that money for other things like housing and groceries.

Changing your behavior because a politician promises to do something during an election is pretty stupid.

If someone comes to your door and offers you a 100 dollar bill, will you say no? That's what i thought.

There are about 100 different sayings and cliches on why you should say no in this situation. Did you not have grandparents? Did no one ever give you ole chestnuts of wisdom?

Here’s a few my pappy told me:

Beware the Greeks bearing gifts

No such thing as a free lunch

When someone knocks at your door and offers you $100 for nothing, it’s a scam and don’t give them your bank account information.

This is a stellar example of "Don't count your chickens before they hatch."

Not that I'm unsympathetic, but if I sign the dotted line for a car loan and later decide the car was too expensive, who is going to bail me out? Not other Americans. Me, that's who.

Because its 0% interest? I didn't pay a penny. Its the smart move from a personal finance perspective.

Not asking everyone to pay it off, I’m pointing out that shite didn’t get paid down during the 0% interest period because income went down and all expenses skyrocketed.

People spent their money in other areas during the halt thinking those loans were GONE.

I'm not trying to be overly cruel, but this is the sort of thing our society has been needing in order to impress upon people the importance of saving. They don't need the new iPhone, they don't need an unlimited data plan, they don't need cable tv, they don't need streaming services, etc. They need a library card, Ramen and water until they can get their debt paid off.

Look at that! That's skyrocketing credit card debt and it's primarily because people have continued trying to maintain their lifestyles on the backs of their credit cards while inflation has continued to climb.

New car sales have trended upward since September 2021.

Same with air travel.

Durable goods has been insane.

Electronics and appliances have only barely begun to trend downward and that didn't start until this year.

You know what else is climbing? Credit card delinquency rates.

Just because there was a forbearance didn't mean they couldn't continue paying back their debt (because for a long time no one was talking about forgiveness). They gambled and they lost, it's no more complicated than that.

What every one of them should be doing now is hunkering down and Dave Ramsey'ing the frick out of their incomes because it's only going to get worse before it gets better.

quote:

The mere fact that Joe Biden lied to everyone on a national stage knowing this would never pass just to trick the population into thinking their school loans would get paid in order to motivate them to vote blue at mid terms is the biggest travesty in the last 50 yrs.

The key here is for them to remember it come next November instead of gobbling up whatever Goebbels-level rhetoric the administration spits out.

No you are the problem. You enabled your daughter to think daddy government was going to bail her out of her financial responsibilities. You didn’t teach your daughter to live within her means and to pay back what she owes before adding on more loans. Don’t point the finger at the government for your parental failures.
