Seems like it’s only a matter of time at this point.

Roswell would be nice for people like me. Just a straight shot on Hwy 92.

Seems like a waste to go into such a poor sports market again

What Canadian city needs a new team?

Last two moved to Calgary and Winnipeg. I guess Hamilton can get one in about 10 years when this one fails.

seems to be the leader of the pack at this time of cities without an arena yet

This really isn’t saying much, Houston already has an arena.

3rd NHL team in Atlanta, the worst sports city in America

Will they ever learn?

Where will this team end up moving to in a few years?

Hoping Quebec or someplace else in Canada where the people actually care.

would they use thrashers, since old thrashers went back to jets?

maybe change logo and colors?

Atlanta Sudistes....Won't make sense when they move to Quebec but at least it's in French.

Makes just as much sense as the Calgary Flames. Alternatively, they can be the tanks since they named their first franchise after Sherman wrecking shite.

Dallas has a great, successful NHL franchise that isn't going anywhere, but Houston and Atlanta do not. I wonder why...

Just food for thought...now you do the dishes...

Expansion request now submitted.

quote:

The Alpharetta Sports & Entertainment Group, fronted by former NHL player Anson Carter, has formally requested that the NHL commence with an expansion process aimed at bringing a franchise to the greater Atlanta area for a third time.

The announcement, published on Tuesday by Sportsnet, states that the group is seeking an NHL team for a new arena designed by architect Frank Gehry that will be part of a larger development at the North Point Mall site in Alpharetta, located around 30 minutes from where the Thrashers used to play.

There are other groups interested in bringing the NHL to Atlanta. Vernon Krause, a businessman who has proposed building an 18,000-seat arena in a mixed use development in Forsyth County, told WSB-TV that he met with Bettman in New York. Krause says he believes that if the NHL approves expansion, a team could play in its arena beginning in the 2027-28 season.

I have never understood why three cities don't have a NHL team.

1. Milwaukee. Very Scandinavian, while the city, proper, is 40% white (mostly Sandinavian), the city, proper, has 400,000 people while the "Metro" has 1.5 and that is 80 percent white. College hockey is huge there and in the Upper Peninsula precisely because there is no NHL team.

2. Kansas City. Similar to Milwaukeee and there is also no NBA team there (odd that basketball crazy has no NBA team) so the NHL team would "own winter pro sports" there.

3. Houston. Simply because if "warm" cities like Los Angeles and Anaheim, Dallas, Tampa, Miami and now perhaps again Atlanta have teams I am surprised Houston does not because it is a huge market.

I have also wondered about Cincinatti (see Kansas City, no winter sports) and Cleveland, but maybe Columbus is close enough to cover both fan interestests in those cities.

Halcyon would be great for me. Quick shot across 20 and down 400 a couple exits. That's prime real estate for the Atlanta folks that would pack an arena.

My vote is to bring back the Knights. Don't want anything to do with Thrashers or Atlanta Spirit Group.
