I think I have 2-3 eps left, but I sort of agree with others here that it’s considerably behind hill house & midnight mass, but still above bly manor.

I’ve enjoyed it enough, but it also seems the least spooky to me of all his series.

Hill House scared the shite out of me. I had nightmares about bent neck lady.
I really loved the setup for Midnight mass. I found the end was a slight letdown but not awful.
I didn't really like bly house.

I'm only two episodes in, but I'm really enjoying the fact that this is folding in elements of the entire body of work from Poe. The Masque of the Red Death elements that were telegraphed for the rave at the abandoned factory building was outstanding.

Dude, you went 30 minutes and abandoned it because you didn't see the connection. It's 8 episodes long. Each episode is a riff of an Edgar Allen Poe short story, but the series as a whole relates to Usher. Each episode is about Roderick telling the story, but elements of Usher are in each episode which, i assume, culminates at the end. I have watched 5 episodes now and each episode progresses the main story (Usher) whilst diving into each short story.

E1 - A midnight Dreary
E2 - Masque of the red death
E3 - Murder in the Rue Morgue
E4 - The black cat
E5 - The Tell-Tale Heart
E6 - Goldbug
E7 - The Pit and the Pendulum
E8 - The Raven

It's very reminiscent of the Poe House segments of the Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury.

I don’t mean from the previous episode. I meant when they started getting into their storyline. I didn’t expect the chimp or the building being demolished. But I thought the water source, a heart attack and the cat were going to be responsible for three of the others.

Midnight Mass is just as good, but a different story which develops slower.

Just finished it, thought it was great. Got very predictable towards the end and to me, the least scary of Flanagan’s series the past few years.

Just finished it. It was great until the last 15 minutes. When Madeline went on her 3-4 minute sermon about how consumerism is the “real evil” in this world and how they’re just a product of society, I just rolled my fricking eyes.

Man, I was opposite of this. I thought that monologue was dead on. Big Money uses the lowest of money to fleece Middle Money. That's what the message was.

I enjoyed it. 7/10

Kind of slow in parts but I was a big Poe fan growing up and liked how the show used those stories and themes.

I also liked that it wasn’t full of jump scares. I enjoyed the tension and suspense.

Also, the lemon speech might be the greatest speech I’ve heard in a long time.

Honorable mention: Froderick telling his wife he would weld her ring on

One question I had was why everyone at Perry's rave had to die with him. Verna told the wait staff and Morella to get out before it was too late. Why didn't she do the same with the party guests?

Of all of the deaths, I felt that Lenore's was the most impactful, because she was innocent. Verna clearly did not want to kill her, but because she was part of the Usher bloodline, she had to die too.

She is Death. All she wants are bodies. Final episode explains this when she tells Roderick he is top 5 on her list because of all the bodies he has given her due to his drug.

Just finished and that was super well done. Liked the jester jump scare. Thought that was very well done. Reminded of the car scene from hill house.

Loved tying in Poe the way it did.

These lib cucks can’t even make a fantasy scary series without talking about Donald Trump.

Jeez. Honestly that ruined it for me. If my eyes roll out of my skull at any point, gonna be a no for me dawg

And if you don’t know what I referring to, just wait till the last episode.

Bailed after 2 episodes. Some of the previous posters were spot on with the cast checking every DEI box imaginable. Rewatching Hill House instead.

Must be miserable to not get over political shite for long enough to enjoy a show. Was that shite annoying? Yes. Was it necessary? No. Is it going to stop me from enjoying the show? No

Eh, well, there’s at least one very very very gory scene

Decided to give it a whirl and if you were referring to episode 2 then yeah that was wild. 2.5 episodes in and digging it.

Seems a little more campy for lack of a better word than his other series, but makes for a more fun show.

So, by your own admission, you enjoy flawed programs.
Must by mind numbing to enjoy shows that annoy you intentionally.

How mind-numbing is it to endlessly wait for flawless shows to watch?
