Majority of people on here are trashing the guy. Meanwhile the current divorce rate in the US is 40-50%. That would make me think that there are plenty of people divorcing for far less than a 100 lb weight gain.

If she is really wiping out whole boxes of cookies at one sitting then she is no better than he is.

Was her mom fat when they got married? My dad always said look at her mom, because that is what she will look like in the future!!

I've known both of them since High School.
Her mom is skinny.

Wife and I both signed up with a coach. We both intend on competing in a bodybuilding show next summer.

Fun way to keep yourself in shape, have something to work towards

Some shallow folk up in here.
Assuming the guy is fit and active (haven't read the whole thread) what does he really have in common with a spouse that isn't interested in those things? I want to hike on the weekends and cook healthy meals at home throughout the week and you want to eat Popeye's and Taco Bell all week and bar hop every weekend? What do we even enjoy doing together? Kids and family are worth serious consideration but I'm just pushing back against the idea that wanting to be physically compatible with your spouse makes you an a-hole.

Sounds like my wife. Not quite 100 pounds since getting married, but maybe 50-75. I would love it for her to be small like she used to be, but it is what it is. I'm not divorcing her over that. I'm human, and I might not turn down a night with a slim thing if I get an offer, but I'm not divorcing my wife.

Infidelity and money are the top two reasons people get divorce. “My wife got too fat” is way down the list. In reality, that excuse us a cop out. His relationship was driven by sex, not love. He never should have gotten married if his wife gaining weight was enough for him to bounce

How is for better or worse an excuse for this woman to just sit around and get fat? That's bullshite. No one signs up for that. After years of goading her to get back into shape she doesn't put the effort in, that shite is on her lazy arse. Quit bagging on the guy because he got tired of the bullshite. He's not wrong.

when you make a pros and cons list for marriage, there literally isn't a single pro that can be listed for men.

The Disney version of romance would be nice but pretty much no one other than your mother will love you unconditionally.

As a guy lose your job and see how long it takes. There are implied expectations hard wired into the DNA of most relationships.

There are a lot of miserable men in sexless marriages. The idea that sex is an obligation in exchange for fidelity and commitment might not be romantic but at least occasional sex isn't really all that much of a labor ask compared to the labor needed for everything else important in the relationship. But it makes an enormous difference in how men view the quality of their marriage.

I am not proud of it but when I dated when I was a young man, when I met the mother, if she was obese, it killed it for me. You have to be honest with yourself. I had a friend who married one of the finest girls in our school. After her second child, he got huge. She looked just like her mother. I blamed the guy for leaving her and still do. He had a blue print to work from. Some men would stick. If my wife had gotten huge after 4 children, I would still be together.

For better of worse applies if one spouse gets cancer or loses a leg in a car wreck, etc- not when one stops giving a shite and turns into a lazy, KFC inhaling, airplane seatbelt extender-needing land sloth

LOL, what would Jesus say about that?

I thought there was ... what was it... a commandment?

I'm not saying it's wrong to not love a wife with some cushion for the pushin, but hell. Do you actually love your wife, or are you just with her because she's there? This actually brings it back on topic, sorta. Now that it's after midnight, I expect spicy replies.
