First spinal tap came back negative Thursday/Friday, but since then, he has gone down hill and they have brought in a neurologist from the Mayo Clinic. Because of symptoms, they are diagnosing it as Jakobs…

I thought they needed a brain biopsy to diagnose

And yeah usually from infected venison and some other meat

Think there is a familial component too

I knew a man with a similar series of diagnoses. He died of limbic encephalitis. Looks a lot like CJD. It is most frequently caused by a paraneoplatic syndrome that results from cancer, but that isn't the only thing that can cause it.
