I'm 64 now so I sure hope to see 65. My mom is 85 and doing well. My dad died at 75 but he was a 2 pack a day smoker, drank daily (pure damn cajun), and never exercised. Doc said he would have made 90 if he tried. I am good and hope to make 90+ but we will see. At least my genes are on my side.

that's bullshite, nobody knows, my dad was a stud athlete, owned a couple of records at LSU(track and field,) entrepreneur, civic leader, not a smoker or a drinker, alzeimer's ripped him off at 74

No idea. My dad was adopted so I have no idea what the family history is on that side which used to concern me but now I'm fine with it because ignorance is bliss. Most of my moms side makes to their 80's-100s but they're all mormons and live teetotaler lifestyles. I have not led a teetotaler lifestyle, to put it mildly.

So who knows? I live an active life, watch what I eat, exercise daily, keep fairly fit, and work a non-sedentary job. On the other hand, I like to have a drink or five every day, cigarettes have been an on again/off again battle for most of my life, and I pretty much lived like total shite and punished my body from 16-35.

All I know for sure is that, at 44, I'm getting old enough to know a lot of people that didn't make it this far and I've finally realized that 'every day is a gift' isn't just some trite bullshite that old people say like I used to think when I was younger.

And Kieth Richards. I think about him and it gives me hope that I have at least another decade or two.

No, not again. That's almost 10 years in my rear view mirror.

My dad and his brother both died at 63. I'm hoping my mother's 90+ year old genetics on her side help a bit

What freaks me out is thinking about 2000 being the same time away from 66 for me. Damn you OP.

I think about it some, more my family getting older. All goes quick. Travel, get healthy, get right with the Lord.

Grandpa died at 45. Dad died at 61. I’m 63 and taking 8 pills a day for blood pressure. Maybe I’ll make it.

Nope. I might have a decade left. My years in the Corps did a number on my body. When the pain reaches a point where it’s basically unbearable, if I lose the ability to care for myself, or if there’s a diagnoses that will end up messy, I’ll check out on my own terms. It is what it is…no regrets. I will not be bed ridden, incompetent, or reliant on constant pain treatment to function. That’s not “living” and I’d rather check out the next life than “live” like that.

Sarge, I could nearly write a book after Covid pneumonia. In icu and regular room for almost a month. The only person I seen was my DIL (Head Nurse) she cried and left, I was in the most peace I can ever remember! Close to 2 years of depression and wondering if I would see the next year. I turned 63 last week and am back working 6 days a week and so thankful for it! I said all that to say this, keep pressing, keep believing. Our GOD Reigns!!

My dad died at 31 and I’m 40 now. That’s strange to think about. My mom, her brother, and her mother and father all died of cancer by 55. I don’t think I’ll see 65. If it wasn’t for my wife and my unborn child, I wouldn’t even care.

62 here, and semi-retired.

I'll always do a bit, but they're running it fine.

Preach brother. My dad is still kicking at almost 74 but is on the way out. But ince you hit mid 40’s you start realizing that there is only so many good years left and they are flying by.

I'm 40. All of my grandparents lived or are currently in their 80's. Great grandparents lived until their 90's.

I'm healthy so outside of some freak accident, I plan to see 65.
