F1 did andretti a favor by denying their bid. don't have to come in with those shitty renault engines.

Awesome that there's a discussion thread!

Longtime F1 fan here. Just finished watching the Qualifying replay. Last year, it seemed the qualis were more entertaining than many of the races.

All I wish for this season is that the WDC and WCC are not decided before at least 2/3 of the season has transpired.

Give us a competitive season, F1! Enjoy the race tomorrow, everyone!

Just finished Qualifying as well.
Still prefer this normal format vs a sprint format for everything but in-person for a weekend. Such good build up.

Hamilton being slower than George is not a good look. Neither is Ricciardo being slower than Yuki. They’ve got some racing to do tomorrow.

What's funny is Leclerc's Q2 time was faster than Max's Q3 time.

Track was a bit colder Q3 maybe?

Hamilton is a multiple world champion and is expected to be ahead, or at least even with Russell. Expectation that Danny should be faster than Yuki is just wishful thinking, based on performance we haven't seen in several years, and the idea that Yuki isn't fast. I think they're pretty even on speed, but Yuki outperformed Danny in the last five races last year. Red Bull clearly wants Danny to earn his way back to the Red Bull seat, and Danny himself is setting up these expectations, but my prediction is that he will never get back to Red Bull.

Yep, and it seems they can't blame their age when Alonso is performing so well these days still.

Alonso is freaking amazing in his old age, and seems to be no longer toxic (it's very weird how nice he is to Lance--even if he is the boss's kid). Plus he was eager to take on the challenge of the Indy 500. Most F1 champions are wusses who say oval racing is too dangerous. That's why guys like Alonso and Mansell I hold in much higher regard. They had their F1 glory but were still willing to take on riskier oval racing. Old school.

I dont’t know if it has been mentioned but Prema Racing is terrible this year in F2 and both Bearman and Antonelli were strongly rumoured to have seats in F1 next year if they did well. Going to be hard to judge them this year.

Greatly enjoy watching F2 as a spec series. Races are usually pretty competitive with lots of overtaking since they all race on the same chassis.

Prema is a Ferrari subsidiary I believe. A lot of the F2 drivers end up racing Formula E and other series besides F1 when their time in F2 runs out. I think there's a limit. Good racing for those into motorsports.

I got my prediction edits in.

I was dead wrong about Alpine. Yeesh. That’s a bad car that won’t be improving very much in 2024.

Everyone is different so assuming just because Alonso isn't noticeably fading no one else will is misguided.

Hell, I'd say KMag is already fading as well as Perez. Vettel was shite his last couple years and was in his early 30s.
