One thing to consider - lately the "cool" whiskey glasses are oversize, I think because they want you to drink more. Try to find decent glasses that arent' gigantic.

If you want to blow some serious cash, Glass Blower Ben in NOLA makes cool whiskey glasses.

I like the ones that are heavy with a big solid base. There were lots to pick from at TJ Maxx whenever my wife got the ones I have now. I also like to play fancy with a snifter every now and then, I just use a taster I got from some brewery 25 years ago.

Find some cool vintage ones. I just got a set that my parents got as a wedding gift 48 years ago. I broke one making Old Fashioneds Labor Day weekend, so I don’t use them as much as I used to.

Or get drunk and take them home with you from a nice restaurant- I have a few of those, too

If drinking neat, then definitely a Glencairn or a Canadian Glencairn

Someone gave me these as a gift.
I have others I use more often, but these are good for guests and dishwasher safe.

If you're an oil field baw, I recommend the WTI glass.
