FInal Fantasy virgin here.

Watching videos, this seems like a game up my alley.

I see some FF stuff is on PC. Does anyone thing Rebirth will be on PC at some point? If I did want to dip my wick in some FF stuff on PC, where should I start? I don't know what Remake, Crisis, Integrade mean. Willing to point me in the right direction? Or any direction?

Rebirth will eventually be on PC.

If you were interested in the Final Fantasy 7 world (most popular)…I’d suggest playing 7 Remake Intergrade(comes with DLC) but you may have to wait a bit to play part 2 on PC.

Keep in mind combat varies with each game. Newer titles are more action based and include: FF Remake, FF 15, FF16.

Everything else is essentially a slower turn based other than FF13. 13 is a speedier turn based and is quite fun actually.

If you can handle a little slower turn based I’d suggest this order to start:

1.) FF X
2.) FF Remake/Crisis Core/Rebirth. (Play CC first then remake)
3.) FF 16
4.) FF 13
5.) FF 12
6.) FF 15

The classics:
1.) FF 7 original
2.) FF 9
3.) FF 8
4.) FF 6
5.) the rest

Thanks for this info. I've never really been into turn based games. I guess just haven't tried a good one, really. I think I'd like the action based like FFVII remake from what I saw.

Yeah, hold off on that

I'm a "look in every corner and check everything" gamer and I loaded up the game the very moment it unlocked and was still up until around 2AM just finishing the first chapter.

I think 7Remake is a great entry. You are just gonna have to wait a bit to play rebirth on PC but it is still an enjoyable experience in its own right. 16 is solid. 15 is decent.

Crisis Core is action but it was made for PSP so it’s limited to the hardware but gives great insight to the FF7 universe.

If I had a blank canvas and was a FF virgin who wanted to play action combat I’d play this order:

-Crisis Core
-Remake Intergrade( FF7R and DLC)
-Rebirth(if possible)
-FF16
-FF15
-FF13 (speedier turn based)

Now if you wanted to wait until rebirth is on PC before playing the 7 universe.

Play FF16 then FF15

Took a 4 hour nap. Replayed chapter 1 until about 1:30 and could already feel the dangerous path I was about to take if I played any further.

The next 4 days though….my body is ready.

You'd like FF15 and FF16 then, too.

Just be prepared to put life on hold once you start. I personally like the story of 15 better than 16, but the combat in 16 excels over almost every other FF title. As far as an overall experience with pure turn-based and a phenomenal, unforgettable story, I agree with the post above that says go with FFX. It has its corny moments but is overall superb.

It doesn't look like 16 is on PC yet, that I can see. 15 is on steam though.

Will probably give that one a go first, even though I have a PS5. I just tend to play PC stuff first.

I had issues with 15 on release but apparently it’s finally a finished product and people seem to enjoy it…especially newer fans to FF.

Get the ultimate/royal edition I think it’s called. It has all the stuff you need.

I had issues with the final chapter in Insomnia (future) because it felt unfinished. It just felt like you were rushed through the corrupt and decayed city with ripe opportunities for endgame content but there were just no avenues through which to pursue said content.

Turned out it felt that way because it actually wasn't finished. I replayed the game about a year after initially beating it and was VERY happy with the final chapter. Tons of tough random encounters all over Insomnia, a much bigger area to explore and pick fights, and the ultimate superboss "Omega" which I highly recommend if you feel like getting your arse handed to you for 45 minutes.

Initially I wasn't extremely impressed with FF15 especially with the original game's Adamantoise superboss, which was honestly an easy but extremely protracted fight of just skydancing and warp striking with noctis until the thing finally fell... But the whole finished product including the "Episodes" DLC put it near the top of my favorite FF titles. Ardyn will never have the FF notoriety of Kefka or Sephoroth, but he actually did succeed in his goal to cover the planet in the starscourge and was certainly a very memorable and just evil character.

Seriously though, anyone who didn't replay after the whole game was finished, go back and at least do the final chapter again. Load up on mega potions and mega phoenixes and equip the Armiger Accelerator and spam Armiger every time the gauge fills. Between that and trying to keep the party alive to keep Omega distracted, it's a blast.

Listen, many FF games have very different experiences. There's a good chance you could dislike 15 but really like the 7-remake trilogy. Regardless I'd give Remake-intergrade (part 1 of 3 of the 7 remake trilogy, part 2 is the one that came out today) a try, it's perfection on PC and way better than 15 or 16

I've still got to finish that game. I got to the last chapter, got side tracked, and lost the save.

My physical copy came in today. I'm taking tomorrow off to do a few things so works out perfect. I never played intergrade so going to try to rush through it this evening.

I got through about 30 hours of remake, but never finished it. Should I finish it before I download and start Rebirth?

I’m struggling hard to finish remake. On chapter 15 and have no desire to finish for some reason. Some miserable machine boss second phase is stupid AF

Correct. There's a few things you can get for just having a save file on the first game, but the character levels and equipment and stuff is brand new.
