I think they are going to work on a plan that you can sign up if you want vs forced. Don’t need another bill.

Odd. Seeing as they picked up my recycling bin yesterday.

I suspect that the time, energy, and resources required to try to recycle are worse for the environment than not recycling.

Further admission that recycling was a fraud all along.

Just like climate change.

They don’t actually recycle anything really unless you go yourself and separate the glass and plastics yourself at the facility

No, but it's overrated in terms of environmental benefit.

I’m pretty pro green in many many regards and I see it as being actually a conservative cause.

It's more of a boomer thing than a "conservative" thing. They see it as more a lifestyle than a political idealogy. My uncle called me a "liberal" for recycling my motor oil instead of throwing it in the ditch and letting it get into the wastewater system or the aquifer.

American recycling system is pretty much useless except for a few products.

You seem like you would be mad at the stuff I throw in the trash and the rest of which gets burned, then remnants buried.

My dad lives in Southern CO and they don't offer recycling as a service.

The best part of recycling is the extra can for my wife's Amazon boxes. That's all I put in there but it's worth $5/mo

For everything but metals. Plastics and glass have limited recycling value because they lose valuable physical properties once they are remelted into new products. Paper biodegrades relatively quickly so it's only worth recycling into post-consumer content where it adds value as cheap bulking agent. Metals are infinitely recyclable and can be processed in such a way as to be cost effective.

There’s a 99.9% chance that the shite that gets “recycled” just ends up in some cambodian river or in a chinese landfill.

This is a valid point tho.

The folks at Glass Half Full are fixing to eat.

That is the best place to recycle glass in the city. Shipping material across the world for recycling has always been stupid. Breaking down used goods into a secondary product used locally is great.

That’s kinda recycling in a way.

Saw a documentary a few years back that some of the bigger cities charge for recycling, actually recycle a small portion and sell the rest to very poor countries overseas

Yeah the vast majority of the shite we throw in the recycle bin doesn’t actually get recycled. It’s a massive scam. A lot of it just gets shipped off to China
