Same answer I give you every single time…It makes zero difference until their senior year. They’d be there regardless.

eh. Y’all have a junior that is almost 19. So he gets two years of being old

And that guy Lester mentioned will be 19 years 4 months his senior year during the state tournament. That’s an absolute joke and everyone involved with it should be embarrassed

Dude it’s a joke. They have multiple players on their team that will be over 19 years old during the state tournament their senior year. They should just admit it’s ridiculous

Right. So your school has planned it out and two players on your team turn 19 November their senior year

Just count your blessing those holdbacks don’t play football anymore. It’s saved you a lot of grief

You think college coaches are retarded? They are looking at their birthdays not their grad year

And if they get a big time scholarship it’s because they are studs, not because they are draft eligible for the army the start of junior year

You think these kids are getting scholarships because they are old for their grade?

The sad part is their offers & commitments come long before they are able to prey on kids way younger than them as Seniors. They are already good. Makes it even worse that a player talented enough to play at LSU is a 19.5 year old senior

Having an extra year of development sure as hell doesn’t hurt. And college coaches don’t give two fricks or half of LSU sophomore class wouldn’t be draft eligible aka means that graduated at 19

It screws their kid

Instead of being at lsu next year practicing and using all of those resources and competition, you are playing another year of high school….

It is of zero benefit to the child that old, only the school

Turning 19 the start of your freshman year at lsu is far far better for progression than turning 20….

Winning high school sports /=/ setting a kid up for success

Only select parts of the state care about winning high school sports at all costs

Right. And you are missing that year of development stuck in high school an extra year while other peers tour age are in college getting far better development

This isn’t a summer birthday small kid situation. It’s a stud athlete who would have been old for the grade BEFORE BEING HELD BACK

And it’s being done multiple times at the same school. Just call a spade a spade. It’s sad

Not every time, look we have discussed this a ton. I have no problem holding a kid back so we are never gonna agree. There are zero reasons not to other than it hurts some people’s feelings.

And no I didn’t with my kids.
